This converter/charger never recognized the Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. I called the company twice and all I got was VM. Left messages both times and sent emails twice and NEVER received a reply or call back.I sent it back and ordered a different one from a different company. Hopefully better luck with the next one!

First ordered a Midtek auto-detection converter for my travel trailer....it did not auto-detect and indicated and charged my LiFeO4 battery as if it were a regular lead acid battery. It output a max of 13.7V vs. 14.6. The wiring instructions were good, the wire lengths were very generous and customer service was responsive, but could not solve the issue, so I returned it.

Initially, the unit starts out charging in Lead Acid/AGM mode (Green LED lit). I was charging a 100Ah LiFePO4 battery that was mostly discharged. At the start, the unit was charging at 58 Amps and near the end it dropped down to 55 Amps. At the end of charging, the Geen LED turned off and the Blue LED turned on indicating it had switched to Lithium (LiFePO4) mode. The Red LED indicates it is charging. If the unit is off (unplugged from AC), and it is connected to the battery, it will pull about 15mA from the battery (standby current). The Green or Blue LED will be lit. This is a negligible amount of power. This unit has an Auto-detect circuit to determine if it should use the 3-stage charging method (for Lead Acid and AGM) or the 2-stage method (for Lithium). There are a few internal components that get fairly hot (220 degrees F), however, the fan kept the external surfaces relatively cool. There are a few Youtube videos on these type of converters (search for “Update on the WFCO Auto-Detect RV Converter Charger Review - Auto Senses Li or LA batteries” and “WFCO auto detect battery charger, does it actually work?”) that indicate you must start with a discharged battery and let the converted charge the battery up completely before it will detect the correct battery type. There are other issues that may cause problems detecting the correct battery, like cables to the battery being too long, and conflicts with solar charging. However, I had no issues during my testing.
