i have a few of these. puts out a very nice flame and is well made. lights easily. i took off a star because it is very sensitive to the propane temperature. no torches like cold propane but this one is more sensitive and refuses to light when cold, where others will light but be weak.

I bought this torch to light my wood pellet pizza oven and now I'm using it in the kitchen frequently. It's great and compact when paired with the small refillable propane bottle from Flame King. It's very easy to use. Just twist the valve on the back until you hear propane hissing out, then press the valve in to strike the piezo igniter and you're in business.I'm using it mostly to melt cheese on things. Have you ever had a Sloppy Joe with melted cheddar on it? I just did.

This is junk.1. It is useless with the mini flame king tanks because it spits out way way way too much flame for tanks that size. You will get hardly any use, it is like hooking a flame thrower up to a water balloon of gas. A much smaller flame is what I expected, so it burns through propane much too quickly.B. I dropped it on a carpeted floor from about 2 feet up which broke apart the cheap plastic snap on casing that holds the ignitor in place. Can put it back together but it doesn't really hold right or stay anymore.I would recommend forgoing both the flame king torch and mini canisters because it would be the one thing you would think would be designed for those and it isn't.Just use butane or a larger tank with standard torch (which wastes less propane than even this thing).

I'm kinda disappointed in this torch head for two reasons. The first being the ignitor is just as bad as all the other piezo ignited torch heads and only worked well for a little less than a single 1/4lb propane cylinder before becoming hit-or-miss. Now it usually takes anywhere from 5-20 tries to get the torch started! You'd think in the last 15-20 years someone would have a better system for built in ignition...The second problem I have is that when the flame is turned down low it refuses to stay lit beyond a certain level and starts burning around the outer ring of the nozzle popping back to the normal flame periodically. A bit of a bummer when probably 80% of the things I use it for are things like heat shrink tubing and other things which need a much lower flame

This small torch works phenomenally well I have actually come to the conclusion it burns hotter than the conventional propane torches I have been using for the past 50 years. Also works great for sweating copper pipe very quickly. the ease of use in tight locations is great since it is very compact. Also quickly lights my Big Green Egg. No problem with the lighting mechanism I have found if you don't drop it then usually the piezoelectric starter will work indefinitely. Also for stability I took a big chunk of packing foam and my Sharp pocket knife and created this very stable stand because with the small 1/4 lb self refillable propane tank it was way too top heavy. Oh by the way.... I greatly recommend the refillable propane tanks and fill system it's paid for itself in a month of use. Actually it was more like a week.Works great been using for a week now daily. It is used in the kitchen and for other recreational uses. I find so many uses for these small tanks. Only takes a minute to fill.

Wow, I'm impressed. This little thing shoots out a flame that is about twice that of a standard "bernzomatic" type pencil torch that is often used for sweating copper pipe. It's small. It's easy to use. The push button ignition works well. The price was reasonable. I don't have a single bad thing to say about it.

Did not work initially. Other reviewers seemed to have a similar problem. Easy fix though at least with mine. The wire that delivers the spark to the end of the torch was slightly bent and did not reach the end so would not ignite the gas. Take off the cover shroud (one and only screw on side). Slide off cover. Gently straighten wire and pull to end leaving a small gap (1/8" maybe). Test and see that the spark is arcing to the end of the brass burner. Replace cover. I did that and it works perfectly now. I suspect that the wire gets bent while banging around during shipment as it is easily bent. Would have given 5 stars of it was that way when received. All and all a good unit.
