Installation and connection to AC power is easy with the included adapter plugs and "quick-connect" wiring harness so you can you easily replace existing hardwired alarms without needing to rewire. The 10-year battery backup allows for continued monitoring for the life of the alarm. Intelligent sensing technology is designed to reduce nuisance alarms; one button silences them if they do occur, and also tests detector functions. The latching alarm indicator automatically identifies which unit initiated the alarm, even after the conditions that set it off have subsided. And an end-of-life signal enhances your safety by letting you know when it's time to replace the unit. Connect it to compatible BRK or First Alert alarms within a single-family residence; connecting will sound all the alarms together.

I am very pleased with this product and it is exactly what I have ordered and got delivered earlier than expected. It also had a battery already inside the unit. The installation was easy. Remember that First Alert makes different models of their smoke alarms. Just make sure you order the correct model if you are replacing your existing unit. The model number is on the back of the unit. You should also conduct a test of the unit to make sure the installation has taken place correctly. Also, you can save yourself a lot of money by doing this yourself and not calling an electrician. They charge an arm and a leg.

The unit I received (SMICO100-AC) was not the same model number I ordered as a direct replacement, but it works with other First Alert S/C and combination wired detectors. The only issue is that this unit does not share the same mounting base as the SC9120B so that must be replaced. Not a big deal.

When it came in I was nervous because it didn't look exactly like the fire alarm that was originally in its place, even though I searched the exact one, but it works just the same and it was easy to install!
