  • Battery operated to provide reliable detection, even during power outages; two AA batteries included

Kidde Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, AA Battery Backup, Interconnectable, LED Warning Light Indicators, model 900-CUAR, is an alarm combo that detects smoke & carbon monoxide gas, using a single alarm. Operating through your home's wiring (120V AC power), while 2-AA batteries (included) provide battery backup during the event of a power failure, the Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm is equipped with self-testing components that are always checking the unit to ensure the device is operating as expected*. Photoelectric sensing technology that senses visible fire particles (associated with smoldering fires), while an electrochemical sensor detects carbon monoxide. When a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event occurs, the Kidde fire alarm warns with an 85-decibel alarm sound & flashing red LEDs. Three LED warning lights provide status of the alarm: a green status alerts to the alarm operating properly, amber alerts to faulty operation or connection, and red alerts to smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide. The Smart-Hush button silences the unit for approximately 8 minutes, which is helpful when this smoke detector carbon monoxide detector combo sounds from things like routine cooking or shower steam. Install a carbon monoxide smoke detector combo on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe. UL Certified with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty. Meets requirements of UL 2034, UL217, NFPA72, (chapter 11 2002 edition) The State of California Fire Marshal, NFPA101 (One and two family dwellings) Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD). *Self-testing is not a substitute for a manual push test of the alarm. Perform a button test once per week to verify proper alarm operation. **Alarms only connect with select Kidde alarms that have hardwired AC interconnect capability (see User Guide).

Not worth the money. I bought seven detectors, one started doing the end of life beeping after two weeks then at 7 months another one started the end of life beeping. I am going to replace all of my detectors with a different brand. If I could give this product a zero I would.

Bought these as a replacement for my discontinued smoke alarms and they were very easy to replace & connect. Hardwired, interconnected system with battery back up.

Easy to install. Love that they are a combo of smoke and CO. Be careful to attach wires well. If they are slightly off, it will set all alarms off.

I ordered 6 smoke detectors & & 2 carbon/smoke detectors to install in our vacation home last spring. We did not install until July, & a few weeks later one of the carbon ones malfunctioned, would not stop beeping. We brought it home & I found their customer service number in my orders on Amazon. Called got a real live person on the phone, he had me do some tests, & 2 weeks later received a new one in the mail. Best customer service ever, will only buy Kiddie brand. They are wired in & easy to install.

Well after 10yrs all my old detectors started beeping one by one and needed replacement. I was hoping I would not have to rewire and could just plug these in to replace the same brand because they apparently dont make the old ones anymore. These are a bit of a downgrade. The old ones would talk and tell you fire or co2 detected. These just beep different. Should they ever go off I don't even remeber how many beeps is which issue. If you have kids you may want to look at other units because they won't know what the problem is and may disregard it if co because they don't smell smoke.Hope I don't need them but the interconnection function works just fine.

I purchased 50 smoke/co detectors to replace standard smoke detectors that I had in hotel rooms to ensure that we will remain up to fire code come August. Out of all 50, I had a single box that didn't include the wires. Every smoke detector worked and all batteries were charged. I went with Kiddie-brand for my purchase because they have always been reliable and we want to ensure we are utilizing quality product when it comes to health and safety.I purchased these because they were an overall cheap option (in comparison with similar models), it has hardwire capability, and because these appeared more modern and sleek. There were other models that would've matched what we had, but these were a great fit overall for our hotel. These can be hardwired, but do not have to be. We did hardwire into our fire protection system, and it was very easy. We simply pulled down the old smoke detectors, loosened the screws for the ceiling mount and pulled the old mount. Then we pulled the wires down, removed the wire caps, and wired in the new wires so that they are tight and snug, and tucked them back into the ceiling. We put the new mount on the existing mounting screws and tightened it down. Then we simply held the battery door, pulled the tab, inserted the wire male end into the female port on the smoke detector and we were done. The only worries I have is that dust may build up on the lip of the smoke detector, and that the battery compartment door is rather flimsy. The packaging is great, and they cover the smoke detectors in a piece of hard plastic and a soft sort of "shower cap" to make sure it's protected even if the box is damaged.Overall, great product. I'll try to remember to update this over the years, but chances are that I'll forget before the day is over!Happy purchasing
