Very easy plug and play. I have a laptop that doesn't have a player so had to download one to make this work. But that was also easily installed and I was using the dvd player within minutes.

The product works as described and it is able to read both BluRay and UHD discs. I have to do a firmware update with my app.

I recently found some old vacation videos that were on DVD's and my latest iMac does not have a disc slot. So I thought I would order this external disc player so I could view my DVD's. It works great. Out of the box it will play Blu Ray disks, with a firmware flash it will open 4k UHD. Disk tray feels kinda sus, be gentle with it. Case is nice 👍, instructions are.... translated.

It's a clean, simple, portable drive that can read and write pretty much any optical media you'll come across. Before purchasing check that your computer is able to run 4k blu Ray's, because a lot of them are not.I use external 4k blu ray drive with MakeMKV, and it worked straight out of the box for blu-rays and UHD 4k blu-rays, I didn't have to flash a new firmware for it at all! This might not be the case for everyone, but you can find the correct firmware in the MakeMKV forums very fast! This is 100% worth it just for it being compatible with MakeMKV. On Mac I am able to rip Blu-rays with MakeMKV.but you will need to go find your own software to play Blu-ray movies such as MacGo Blu-ray Player and you’ll likewise need to hunt down a decent Blu-ray authoring software.So, if you're looking for a semi-afdordable drive that supports 4k Blu-Rays, this is perfect.

Claims to work with a MacBook. Doesn't work with either of mine. Will spin up, make some noise, and the light blinks, but it isn't recognized by the laptop. The little slip of paper "manual" is a joke. I've spent hours trying to make it work, no dice. Stay away.

This external drive is a great help since many computer cases no longer have space or support for internal optical drives.I used to own a LG Blu-ray drive but it was broken, I purchased this unit at a cheaper price, found the firmware for the LibreDrive on the MakeMKV website and can now use it for UHD 4k playback. it's really fast and quiet and easy to use.
