This little bucket is a good one. I have it on my kitchen counter. It comes a charcoal filter that does a good job of masking smell and no fruit flies! You might want to order extra filters when needed.

The container is nice HOWEVER, if you should happen to have fruit flies etc they may accidentally get into the scraps in the container thus laying eggs, they hatch in the MANY numbers and take over in the container.I do twist the bags I use in the container but somehow this still happens. (I find this happens mor often in the warm weather) Perhaps a way around this would be to keep the big container in the fridge? I find in the warm weather I have to get rid of the small bag in the container more often. Otherwise it is a nice container, plenty big and leak proof. Probably better for me in the cooler weather. Good price, easy to clean. No smell. Made of sturdy material.

Great for a single person. The filter keeps the smell.

My main problem with this bin is that the there are detachable pieces that come off too easily. There is a small piece on each side that "secures" the handle to the container that keep falling off, making the handle useless unless you keep reattaching it each time. Also, my kids empty the compost and the top filter holder fell off and disappeared when they were emptying. You cannot buy the little square filter holder on its own, so we bought a whole new replacement bin and it happened a second time. I know the kids need to be more careful, but it really shouldn't come off that easily and since it does, you should be able to buy just those little pieces. It's a higher-priced bin compared to others out there, and I don't think this bin is worth the money.

This is the best compost bin ever for kitchen use if you use a lot of vegetables in your diet. It holds a lot the lid closes tightly and there’s no odor and the bags that you can order for it fit perfectly I would highly recommend this bin.

The lid broke (I was never gentle with it) after about ten years and I bought another. I think it says a lot if you aren't mad at a product when it fails because you think it worked well. It is very hard to clean and gets really gross if you don't constantly empty it and it sits a while, so I am planning to wash this one more thoroughly and more often. The vent attachment does fall off occasionally and I have had to dig through my compost bin a few times looking for it. I replace the mesh occasionally with mesh I have for other things, definitely not every three months. I never smell the thing. The mesh is what keeps the bugs out, which is what I really care about. It fills up fast, but it's better than a gallon or going to the bin every time I prepare a vegetable. It's very sturdy, but it did eventually break at the hinge. It's expensive for a plastic bucket, but it makes composting easier.

I ordered this to carry compost from my condo to the compost bin at the back of the building. I love the handle and there is a light latch to be sure the lid stays closed if it gets knocked over. There is a filter in the lid and so far, odors have not escaped. However, during summer months I’ll keep it on the covered front balcony rather than the kitchen area. I use a fully biodegradable bag in the bucket but there is always some liquid that seeps through to the bottom. I just hold it upside down over the compost and then bring it in to rinse and wipe with an alcohol wipe after it dries. .

This works as well as any of the similar items. Does keep fruit flies to a minimum. Very little odor so long as I empty it every few days. It is not perfect but a big improvement over an open container (fewer flies) or a closed top container (more convenient and less smell).I had a Lomi which I loved but lost in a house fire. Did not think it was worth the cost to replace in summer. Still trying to decide whether will buy before winter. Living in a cold winter area, I cannot compost with this bin in winter. The Lomi works well but the cost is hard.

Mine arrived in a box that was in perfect shape.Upon opening the box, I noticed the top of lid was very scuffed up because these are loose in a larger box.I found a clip that is used to secure the handles in place, was loose in the box. The clips for each side are supposed to wedge in tightly and stay in place, but, both of these wedges/clips on mine are way too loose to stay in place. They'll drop out and get lost, no doubt about it.Last and worst issue, the lid is warped and does not stay flat. There's a small 1/16" gap around both side of the lid which makes the seal and charcoal filter on top useless. Why have an vented top at all if the point is to contain the smells of decomposing waste in this???Had high hopes that for over $25, I'd get something decent to replace the similar unvented one we have had for over 10 years. This was not it! Not even close.I suggest to look for another type (metal!!!) that will offer better quality and material control then this design made of thin plastic.

This is our 3rd one to buy. We just love this pail. We have a rental properties so needed extra. The charcoal filter on time keeps all of the smell at bay. You can also buy refill charcoal replacement packs or cut your own using the big sheets that you buy for the hooded cat litter box. This composter holds a lot so you're not running out to the yard all of the time to empty it. I wash it out and use a water to bleach ratio every now and again to make sure it is germ free and clean. It is super sturdy and can hold a lot. A few days worth. It also doesn't have a liner pail like some, which I find the 2 pieces a pain. It is plastic so easier to clean than the metal with plastic liners. The dark green never stains from beets and whatever else you're tossing in there. Highly recommend this pail but order the big one as it does come in 2 sizes. Big sturdy foldable handle to carry.
