I’m on my third Redmon Compost Bin, and it’s been a game-changer for my garden. My first one has lasted over three years and still looks and works like new. The size is perfect, and the 4-door access and vent holes make composting easy and efficient. Plus, it looks great in my garden! Highly recommend for anyone needing a reliable, attractive compost bin.

So far these are working great. They snapped together without tools and set directly on the ground. I filled one up in six months, alternating non-meat food and dried leaves. It got a little hot so I added some water; make sure to feel the sides in the summer.

It arrived well packed. Made from black plastic. Med quality. Should be adequate to do its job. Out of box is 4 side panels, 1top lid,4 slide in doors, nuts &bolts. You'll need a tool to tighten the nuts.. assembly pretty straight forward.. I did in about 30 min give or take. It has 4 tabs on bottom that sink into ground to stabilize. Lid is not attached but fits pretty well. I may put a brick on top just to be sure. I've had this type of bin before. It works pretty well but takes time depending what you put in and if you 'stir' it. It looks neat and tidy. I started with leaves and kitchen scraps.

I've been looking forward to ordering a real compost bin (you know you're an adult when you look forward to things like this!). We've used makeshift bins in the past, but with the purchase of a new home with plenty of yard space, it was time to move up to a "real" bin. After searching Amazon for days, I was down to this bin or one that rotates. I liked the idea of not having to manually turn a pile of compost, but then I read up on additional cons that comes with tumblers - higher cost, slower compost times unless you have dual bins, lack of critters like worms that help the process along. I decided it wasn't worth the additional expense to get a tumbler that would solve some of these differences, so we went with this. The unit was easy to assemble and is plenty big. The doors on the bottom will make for easy access to finished compost while we continue to add to the top. Air circulation is good, and there is no foul odor (which there shouldn't be in a well balanced bin).The only thing that I would like to see improved is the stakes/tabs/whatever you want to call them on the bottom of the bin. It's meant for you to push the bin down so the little plastic stakes go into the ground and help stabilize the unit. Try as we might, it wasn't happening on our lawn. Perhaps if we'd tried after a good rain when the ground was softer, we would have been successful. As it was, we accidentally broke some off. My husband ended up just breaking the rest off so the bin would sit level. We started quickly adding to the bin, and now there is plenty of material in there stabilizing the unit that we have zero concerns it would ever move. It's already been through some pretty nasty storms without issue, so no worries. Just wish the stakes would have been sturdier. We'll see how it hold up after a couple hot summers, but so far I'm thrilled with it!Side note - get yourself a counter top compost pail. It will significantly improve the convenience of home composting. I can easily move it around the kitchen as I prep to toss my scraps in, and take it out every couple days to add to the pile. So much better than having to go out after every meal!

We moved and couldn't take the old compost bin with us, so I went on a search for a new one that didn't cost a fortune. I decided to purchase this bin after reading some of the other reviews and am pleased with this purchase. The bin arrived disassembled and was surprisingly easy to put together. The side panels have a recessed part on the right side and the left side of the next side fits easily on top of that. There are 2-3 bolts that hold the panels together and they are easy to screw together. I just did them finger tight so as not to over-tighten or strip them. I found it was easier to take off the "doors" on the bottom so I could reach inside while tightening the bolts.Once I had the bin together, it was easy to move and place where I wanted it. I would suggest putting it together close to where you want it to go, it is pretty floppy when it is being moved and it took two of us to move it while keeping its shape.To set it up, all I did was rake the pine straw and dug up some ivy in the square where I planned on putting it. I placed it on the spot and moved it a little to square it up. Then I just pressed the little anchor/feet into the soil to lock it in place. The lid snaps on well and hasn't blown off despite multiple windy days and storms.So far, the bin is working out great and I'm really happy with the purchase. It is kind of flimsy, but once it's in place, it is solid and hasn't moved at all.
