About this item

  • Award-Winning EV Charging Meets Intelligent Load Management: With Emporia PowerSmart, your system dynamically adjusts EV charge rate, allowing the sum of breakers to exceed the electrical panel's service rating, while keeping your home's energy consumption within system limits.
  • Skip the Expensive Panel Upgrade: Nearly 60% of all EV Charger buyers don't have the power needed to charge at the unit's top speed, which requires an electrical panel upgrade. Installing a new panel can cost between $1000 and $8000! PowerSmart allows you to sidestep the need for costly electrical service upgrades.
  • Safe, Certified, and Protected: Per NFPA 70, 625.42(B) and 750.30, an EMS can control and adjust load, up to 100% of the panel rating. It is safety approved to ensure the panel rating is not exceeded.Level 2, 48A, 240V electric vehicle (EV) charging station has flexible amperage settings from 6 to 48 amps.
  • Vue 3 Energy Monitor Included: Installs in most homes with clamp-on sensors. Supports single-phase up to 240VAC line-neutral; single, split-phase 120/240VAC; and three-phase up to 415Y/240VAC (no Delta). Panels with access only to busbars will need flexible sensors available from Emporia.
  • Level 2 EV Charger with Universal Compatibility: Equipped with a secure SAE J1772 connector, compatible with all EVs in North America, including Tesla (adapter required), Chevrolet Bolt, VW ID 4, Nissan Leaf, Ford Mustang Mach-E, IONIQ 5/6, BMW i3, i4, iX, Audi, and Jeep Wrangler 4xe.

NEC EMS Load Management for EVSEs

NEC EMS Load Management for EVSEs

Under National Electric Code, NFPA 70, 625.42(B) and 750.30, an Energy Management System, such as the Emporia Vue, can provide Load Management of an EVSE, which allows the maximum EVSE load on a service or feeder to be set dynamically by the EMS. This allows the sum of the breakers to exceed the panel service rating when installing an EVSE, avoiding expensive and time consuming electrical service upgrades.

This EV charger is incompatible with Vovlvo EX90. I wish I had known before the purchase.

Charging unit is great. I don't normally leave reviews but the customer service experience has been fantastic. I had a small problem and they picked up the line and resolved it promptly. My only feedback.....I wish I could remove unused emporia items from the app itself. I feel like I just want to see the charger and settings.

Couldn't be happier with my Emporia Level 2 Charger. The product arrived a week early, is made with exceptional quality, easy to follow installation instructions and surrounded by an amazing support team. The software is super user friendly, informative and provides great control over the charger, scheduling, power settings, etc. All the bells and whistles to get the job done. Very impressed so far.

Pros, decently priced charger with great features. Load management works as needed. We have a pretty full breaker box at the limit of our service amperage and this allows us to charge at higher speeds when our electricity usage is lower. The default lower charge rate when wifi is lost is nice to have.Cons I have experienced consistent wifi issues only with the emporia charger/vue 2 that cause me to have slower charging. This is a bummer and has caused me to not get the charge I was expecting overnight a few times. Being I don't plug in everynight due parking spaces this is relatively annoying. No other wifi device at our house has wifi issues.

On the recommendation of our electrician, I recently purchased this Level 2 Charger. I’m very pleased with it and am also very happy with the Home Energy Monitoring System that was included at no additional cost. I can now see the main house power utilization. So far, I set the amperage down on the charger and still was able to recharge our RAV4 Prime in less than 2 hours. Now we are running our Ford Lightning down to around 50% (extended battery size) and then will see how quickly the full power mode can recharge it. I can honestly say I give this system a full and enthusiastic endorsement.

This EV charger is top notch. But what I really want to talk about is the tech support: SIMPLY OUTSTANDING. Nowadays we are all used to trying to get a hold of tech support from companies. Many play hide the ball with their support numbers. When you finally find a support number using your Sherlock Holmes talents, other companies send you to a tech support person overseas who either doesn't understand what you are asking, or you don't understand what he/she is saying. WELL, with Emporia things are totally different and all in an excellent, customer first way. First, they put their support number on almost every page of their Installation guide, as well as elsewhere, so you cannot miss it even if you try. When you call, you talk to a real person, who is really knowledgeable and helpful, and speaks English clearly. This is so refreshing. Now as to the Charger with the load management VUE gen 2. The installation for both the Charger and the Vue gen 2 was done by my electrician and the instructions from Emporia were excellent. I highly recommend you have an electrician install this even though the instructions are excellent. 240 volt is not something a handyman should be fiddling with. The one area I needed help with was the setup through the App. I didn't understand how the settings for the Charger and the Vue (load Manager) related to each other and how the system worked. The tech support person was very helpful explaining it all. Both the Charger and the Vue Gen 2 communicate with Wifi to monitor the upstream load demands. When the Vue senses the load demand is getting too high it signals the Emporia Cloud (through your Wifi) which in turns instructs your Charger (again through its Wifi connection) to ratched down the amount of power it is using. It all works seamlessly and in real time. Very impressive. When using the app, add the charger as a new device. Then, add the Vue as an additional new device. So you are adding two devices, the Charger and the Vue. Input the breaker info into the app, and then choose your charging rate (I decided to use the 24 amp for me because I share the garage power with the HOA). But you can set it as high as 40 amp for plug in or 48 amp if you do a hardwire install.Use a professional electrician and respect the 240 volts.
