I set this up to test it to make sure it works because it’s still winter. It was really easy to set up and install. It seems to work well definitely gives a shock. Seems pretty durable.

I'm using this to fortify a small chicken yard as the outer-most perimeter. I have it set with a smart switch to activate during nighttime hours to help deter racoons, fox, and coyote from coming into the area of my yard where my small chicken coop sits.This is a simple device, which makes it easy to set up. If it's plugged in, it's on. This makes it work well with a smart switch. It comes with an extra pigtail, so that it could be wired to a battery. The system uses alligator clips to make the fence and ground connections and this seems a little "cheap". Not sure how long these wires and connectors will last when exposed to weather. The electrical connections are at the bottom of the unit but don't seem particularly well protected against water or drippage. I may need to put this in a housing (outdoor enclosure) eventually. A red light is on all the time when the unit has power, the green light cycles when energized.This kit also doesn't come with a grounding rod, I just used a scrap piece of rebar that I had laying around but the alligator clip isn't really large enough to connect to something of that diameter. Not a huge issue but does require the buyer to come up with their own clamp or way to secure the ground wire to the rod.I'm using this with rope wire (1/8"?). It works well. The unit cycles/energizes about every 0.5 seconds. I could see sparks jumping nearly 1/4" to my metal stakes (from a couple insulators that needed adjustment). I was too chicken to touch the wire but the fact that it was generating enough voltage to jump a 1/4" air gap tells me that it's working.

I have goats and take them grazing with an electric fence. My old energizer stopped working so I bought this one, love the fact that it works from battery as well as from an electrical outlet, this gives me a bigger freedom to where to have my goats.

Super easy to set up. Works great. My nigerian dwarf goats definitely respect the fence with this charger box attached.

This worked well for the fencing we put around our garden to help keep pesky critters out. It puts off a decent little shock which is more than enough to tell me to stay away. It was super easy to install and I appreciate it coming with the electric fence signs.

I ordered this energizer to use on an electric fence that is going on a north face area that gets very little sun. Because it has the option of plugging it directly into an electrical outlet I thought it would be better there than a solar charged battery type energizer. Unfortunately, our house doesn't have an outlet where the adapter cord is long enough to reach an electric fence area. The closest outside outlet is under a deck that gets lots of rain and moisture. Even though enough sun is iffy, I began considering ordering a solar panel and a 12V rechargeable backup battery instead since this versatile little energizer will also work with solar as an option.After consulting with someone who knows more about these things, I found out it may be possible to run an outdoor electrical cord through a waterproof junction box to where it connects to the energizer adapter, and was advised that a larger waterproof junction box should also hold the energizer to protect it. Once I receive the junction boxes with help I am going to see how this idea goes. If that doesn’t work out well, there is still the solar with battery option. I tested the energizer for power plugged into an outlet and the lights went on.Regardless of which way I use it, the energizer needs to be in a junction box as shown in the listing photos, especially since it rains so much here. Junction boxes aren't very expensive and Amazon carries a lot of sizes. I think even if I need to buy a 12V battery and a solar panel to set this up it is a reasonable solution. Another energizer I have uses a 12V 7ah battery size and they also aren’t expensive. The energizer is lightweight, small and comes with a bright yellow electric fence warning sign, instruction manual and connecting wires as listed.

I used this to electrify a low fence around some small, lakeside willow trees that the resident beavers like to eat down. I've only had it up for about a week, but it seems to be working so far... no new tree destruction.I'm operating it on a 10 Ah LiFePO4 battery and a 100W (way overkill) solar panel. I was worried that the solar panel's Open Circuit Voltage (~22 VDC) might kill the fence charger once the battery is full, but it hasn't yet. Probably shouldn't take my word for that though and either use a solar charge controller or a lead-acid battery if you can't plug it into the AC mains.I do not trust this unit to be weatherproof, so expect to put it inside an enclosure or some sort of cover that's off the ground.
