We have been using this whole house filter to remove iron and other impurities from our well water in northern Wisconsin. Works great for about 3 months, and then slowly loses its ability to filter.Nice clean water when new. One of the better filters on the market, especially if you don’t want to invest in an expensive filtration or osmosis system.Amazon raised the price by over $6.00 recently, and it can be bought cheaper at local retailers in our area.

Installed a whole house filter that uses this cartridge several years ago, and have been changing it every 6 months since then. My water tests before and after the use of this filter are very different. Many of the contaminants that showed up in the unfiltered water are now gone from the newest tests. Every drop of water that goes out into my house runs through this filter and it typically lasts the entire 6 months. It is shocking to see how much sediment this keeps out of my house when i change the filters and inspect the old cartridge. It absolutely works at keeping my water safer and cleaner. It also reduces rust in our water. We typically had very rusty water that would leave the bathtub orange after about a month. Its noticeably reduced the rust in the water and helped with the interval in which we need to deep clean the fixtures with harsh chemicals. All water treatment should start and be maintained with regular water tests to know the effectiveness of the filtration. I am not claiming anything specifically, and every case is different, but it has shown improvements to our home water system. For drinking water purposes, our well water runs through this filter first, then a UV filter, both installed in the basement, and finally a cartridge filter was installed at the tap. This has proven in our case to provide reasonably clean drinking water. You must do the water tests though to know what is in your well and to prove that your methods of filtration are working for your contaminants. Remember, just because your water looks clean doesn't mean it actually is. Typically old wells could be contaminated with industrial or agricultural run off from many years ago when the land use was different, and you would have no way to know other than to run a test. Depending on your contaminants, this may help you at improving your water quality.

I switched to this filter from a 1 micron standard filter which was working well, but this filter is rated less than 1 micron, along with charcoal filtration to improve taste and remove chlorine, it's working extreamly well, my city water was full of sediment, which is now removed, as well as chlorine, now my water is like bottled water, and certainly much healthier than the muddy stuff coming out of the city system

ONE MICRON WHOLE HOUSE FILTER WITH 60,000 GALLON CAPACITY IS TERRIFIC. NOW DRINKING WATER THROUGHOUT CONDO. FLOW IS TERRIFIC. COULD NOT ASK MORE. MY HANDYMAN INSTALLED $350. I CANNOT DO. INSTALLATION OF HOUSING AND FILTERS ARE A BARGAIN, CULLIGAN WANTED $2500 A 25 MICRON FILTER. WASTE OF MONEY. THIS IS A VERY LOW COST SOLUTION WHICH CAPTURES BACTERI & MUCH MORE WITH ACTIVATED CHARCOAL. OTHER FILTERS WERE 30,000 GALLONS AND NOT WHAT I WOULD RECOMMENDED. NYONE HANDY CNA INSTAL FOR MATERIAL UNDER $100. A FREAL BARGAIN. I USE TO BE IN WATER FILTRATION. HAVE EXPERT KNOWLEDGE.

the unit was easy to change. Shut off water supply, drain or shutoff outlet lined using the special wrench loosen and unscrew the base. A bucket should be placed under the filter unit to catch water and old filter element. Clean and check the "o" ring and replace if cracked or worn ,I use pool filter seal lube to coat the seal . (safe for drinking water) Unwrap new filter and place in center of base unit . Screw the base with the new filter into the top unit and tighten unit snug. Don't over tighten it is plastic. Turn on supply water and check for leaks, You may have to tighten more to seal. If it won't seal replace the o ring and try again. Turn on outlet water valve and run water for a few minutes.

We pump our own water from a well known lake in upstate NY that has always been known for its clarity and purity. Nevertheless, we filter and chlorinate because algae and sediment from heavy wind and rain increase the possibility of bacteria contamination. We have a multi stage system. The first stage is a washable 50 micron sediment pre-filter that prevents large particles from clogging the system. The second stage is chlorination and a 500 gallon storage tank. The third stage is this ecopure filter, which is effective at eliminating all the sediment and most, but not all, of the chlorine taste and odor. For that we still have to use "finishing" filters in the refrigerator and at the kitchen water faucet.Unfortunately I have not found a whole house filter that is as effective as the sink and refrigerator filters at completely getting rid of the chlorine taste. This one is the most effective one I've found.. It gets the water good enough to be used for washing dishes and clothes, but it is not 100 percent effective at getting rid of the chlorine taste.I have found that I have to replace it once every 3-4 months. If I keep it in our system any longer, the water pressure drops. I would be interested in anyone is getting 6 months in real life.
