All I can say is that the blue heron appreciated that this kept the pond (aka sushi bar) open all winter.

I have a 1200-gallon Koi pond that's about 4' deep at the deepest point, and though the temps this year didn't get low enough to freeze it solid, this heater clearly kept a sufficient surface opening to allow gas exchange. Even when the water wasn't freezing, I noticed the Koi seemed to like the water near the heater, rather than going to the deepest area. Red LED let's you know it's working, and it doesn't seem to draw much electricity at all. Overall, very pleased with it's function and ease of use.

Trash. Lasted ALMOST three months. Absolutely useless. Lost all the frogs in my tiny pond. It was filled with water! Pond heaters don’t usually last very long, but this is the worst I have ever seen. DONT waste your money!

So we have a small pond the picture that they show is a little deceiving. It doesn’t melt as much as it shown. It does the job and keeps an open area in the ice

Nice looking heater, good cord length (could be a little longer for my specific application, but long enough to not need an extension cord). Photo is in the morning after an 11Deg F overnight temperature in a 250 gallon pond (central NJ). There is nice donut of open water around the heater but overall surface is pretty frozen. So far so good keeping the fish alive. If I didn't have the waterfall I might have looked for something with a little higher wattage.

In freezing weather it will only thaw about an inch around it. I didn’t expect too much because of the wattage. Should be priced about half of what it is.

Had a deicer in my pond but it kept throwing the circuit and always went off and pond would freeze over. This one is working great. Temp at night has been in single digits and teens and it is going strong. The light is great on the top. I can see it from the house and helps me not worry. So far great buy. Only had for a few months but still works better than the other one I had.
