Will these pick up litter? Sure. The issue is that the arms are not well connected to the flexible portion of the device. This allows the arms to rotate and not align properly making them difficult to use at times. Hopefully I will be able to modify them to stop this issue but it is unfortunate that I have to in the first place. Knowing what I know now, I would probably have spent a bit more to buy a more durable product.

Great for picking up garbage. I recommend it.

This is a good product. It is a pair of long, light-weight tweezers that works well to pick up sticks in the yard. The clean-up job does not go much faster, because you still have to pick up each stick individually - but it saves you from bending over repeatedly (which makes me feel dizzy). As far as sturdiness and effectiveness, I rate it 5 stars. I gave it 4 stars overall because I think it is overpriced. But it is what I wanted as opposed to the grabbers with string and trigger, which break.

Cheap but robust. Best grabber I found.

My first purchase was in 2016. This is an update.I have Arthritis in my hands, Spinal Stenosis, Fibromyalgia, and a very bad right ankle... and then some! I initially purchased this item to help me feed two outdoor cats.... one is feral and very wild, but now so old she accepts help. The other cat is one that someone apparently discarded. Feeding them outdoors puts me into a position of having to pick their paper bowls before they blow off of the property into the yards of my neighbors. I have been bending/stooping to pick them up by hand, which is painful and unpleasant. So I started using the type of pickup sticks that you get after surgery... and they just don't do the job since I still have to bend/stoop since they are so short,. Additionally, trash slips out too easily because the grip is not that great. The Dramm pickup stixs are very versatile and I can pick most things up with them. They are long enough that I don't have to stoop, thereby saving my back. They are so handy that I now own about six of them.Outside I've even been able to pull down pesky limbs dangling from trees, retrieve used cat bowls ... as well as things that get entwined in the bushes, ivy bed, etc., to the point where I would not otherwise be able to get them out. When I am feeding the cats I can use the stix to clamp onto a bowl ... full of food ... and reach deep into the bushes to place the bowl where my wild child is hiding. One day while picking up around the yard I was approached by a neighbors dog that came on to my property and was acting aggressive. I just held up the stix and made a clapping noise with the ends of the stick. He immediately turned and ran away. That was helpful.Inside I use them to retrieve things that have fallen behind furniture, under the bed, sort laundry, etc. Recently I had to call a plummer due to a leak with my kitchen faucet. Using the stix I was able to lift 80% of the cabinets contents and transfer them right into a temporary storage box. For the items that were too heavy I was able to pull them forward and lift them out by hand. I even used the stix to clean the bottom of the cabinet.I use the stix daily. This is not a tool that you will purchase and put away. Don't hesitate... just order one and you'll discover just how handy it truly is... and no, I do not have any affiliation with the company. I did notice where someone stated that the bars of his stix would sometimes cross over. Mine have never done that. One stix did arrive a little misaligned, but was easily repositioned ... and was good to go.This product is a thoughtful gift to a person living with pain, impairment, injury, etc. For example, in 2017 my Sister-in-Law broke her back. After her release from the hospital I sent her two of the Dramm Stixs. She had to war a brace for a long time and said she would never have made it without these stixs. Additionally, a neighbor recently had a hip replacement and I ordered one for him too. He likes to work in the garden and every time I see him outside he has his stix with him.A while back I ordered a different brand ... just to compare. Let me say that the Dramm Stix has a better weight and feel. I certainly would not dispose of this other stix... but the Dramm is definitely my preference ... so I hope they don't ever skimp on quality. For those who think it is silly to have six of these stixs you may someday find out just how useful something like this can be when you have to live with pain. Sometimes it is the small things that help the most. Also, I have devised an easy method to keep up with what I use the different stixs for. For instance, I wouldn't want to use the stix I use outside for things I use them for inside. So, I use an old pony tail holder that I wrap around the top of the stick. I have a large house and have them spaced around for my convenience. As I said, you'll find a million uses for them!Again, these would make a thoughtful gift... and should be made available to disabled Veterans for free! ... or at least a serious discount. I wish I had known about these for those last few years that my father was alive.

This is perhaps the most useful tool I have ever owned. Seriously.I am a park attendant at a 54 acre nature reserve. There is lots of undergrowth and dense grasses, reeds, etc. Also, some of the terrain is rather steep. I often find trash off the trails. Leaning over and bending down to grab the trash is much less safe than using this item.I was planning on getting one of those long spear things with the needle point, to stab paper and so forth. But, I read some reviews of those, read some reviews of this product, and chose this. I am SO glad I bought this one!I've done 6 shifts at the reserve thus far. I have been able to easily pick up anything and everything from large pieces of paper to aluminum cans and plastic bottles to tiny scraps of paper, plastic, and cigarette butts. I use this tool with one hand, and carry a trash bag with the other.Durability tips.. To increase the likelihood this tool will last a long time, when I am holding it while walking (when looking for trash, not using it to pick up trash), I hold it closed. This keeps one of the arms from dangling and bouncing. I think it's best to carry the tool this way.. puts far less strain on it than otherwise. After I'm done with my shift, I wrap a thick rubber band around the ends to keep the tool closed. This is how I store it in the car.So far, durability is good. I've even put a bit of my weight on it to help myself up steep terrain. I don't suggest using the tool in this fashion. It's not designed to be a walking stick or anything like that, and I suspect it will bend if I put most of my weight on it while climbing up an embankment. However, it has held up rather well when I have leaned on it.Lastly, it's plenty long, and that's important for me. I'm 6'3", and don't like having to bend down. With this tool, I don't have to bend down low to pick up trash on level ground. I barely have to reach.Yes, this thing really is awesome!
