The hood latch was just like the original hood release. It wasn’t too hard to install.

I have a 2001 Ford Mustang convertible where the original hood release cable plastic mount broke where it attaches to the body inside on the drivers foot well. This is a common failure point on these cables. The Dorman brand replacement cable matches the fit and quality of the Ford OEM cable. Hopefully this cable will last as long as the OEM cable.

Don't get me wrong, installing any hood-release cable isn't easy. Actually, it's not that bad, just takes some time and patience, and literally, anyone can do so. This item is durable and is the perfect OEM replacement. The plastic pieces that secures the release to the interior is what broke on my old one and so I bought this to replace it as my hood wouldn't close without the release being in the perfect spot. My tip to you is to use a fishing line when pulling the old one through so that you can pull the new one back to the clasp near the engine.

Perfect fit ... It works better and with less effort to pull than the original. I installed it myself it took about an hour. I cut the original cable in parts as I snaked the new one behind it so it can go exactly where the original was.I only removed the trim on the inside to screw in the pull handle .once it was through the fire wall I cut a hole on the plastic wheel well cover to help me guide it out to the open part of the trunk.. this is not the neatest way but it was way faster then removing plastic trim on a 15 year old car...hope this helps
