I'd suggest this is a nice training bumper for a young pup or small dog. Good feel, light, narrow and the fabric seems good.I thought it would be larger overall, which is on me. I have a large gsp and thought it was a standard size bumper. He loves it so we have trained with it

i have a 10 year old Lab mix and she is getting pickier about her toys. My grandpa used to use an item like this (i think his was really an old sock and stuff) to train his hunting dogs. and when i saw this i KNEW my dog was gonna love it. and i was right.i did have to take the metal ring off with a pair of pliers because i was afraid she was going to crack a tooth chewing on it.she really is just a puppy in an old ladies body, it's been fun watching her invent new games to play with this scent trainer. her favorite is to grab the rope and swing the bag in the air until she bonks herself on the head.

Full disclosure. My dog like to destroy toys and I knew this would not survive long, but what was really scary was the small plastic bag of iron filings, I think - see image. Luckily I saw that bag before she ingested it. I guess that was in there to add weight which is weird because the add for this says it floats? I would highly recommend NOT putting a bag of whatever into this bumper.

This is very small so if you have a full grown medium to large dog you will want a larger size. If you have a small dog or puppy of a larger breed you want to work with fetching this will be good. Remember - this is not a chew toy, don't give it to your dog and just let them have at it - they will tear it up. It is a fetching toy / tool. It's to work WITH your dog either playing or teaching. These float very well they are fine for water. They are a bright color - that doesn't matter to the dog but it's easier for us to find them if we need to.

This is a smaller size bumper which is made well and would based on its size would be best suited for training a young pup. However, my older hunting dog likes it for inside retrieving when the weather is too bad to go outside. Bumpers have ehlped me teach my dog to retrieve and release with a soft mouth so this one has held up fine. Because it floats it’ll also be useful for water retrieve training. It’s a good quality bumper (dummy) even though it’s on the small side.

The minute I took this canvas training tool out of the packaging my dog wanted it. It is a durable canvas covered bumper to use for retrieval training. It is easy to throw and easy for my dog to carry in her mouth. I have only used it indoors so far, but we will use it outdoors when the weather improves this spring. I like that my dog seems to understand that it is not a chewy toy and does not treat it that way. The orange color is easy to see at a distance for me and my dog. It is easier to control where it lands whereas a ball can bounce or hide in the grass.

We have a young dog who wants to be playing ALL THE TIME and as soon as we gave him this toy, it's all he wanted to play with. The size feels good in his mouth and he loves to chew on the rope. It has stayed intact and not shredded but I did add some knots to make it shorter. The toy is very sturdy but has a soft side too. It doesn't feel bad in his mouth at all. we can toss it and he loves to run after it AND, he loves to play tug with it.I do highly recommend this toy as a fun toy and it's great it will float.Once the weather warms up, we can toss it in the lake and he can jump in after it. And I love that the color is orange. Some toys are green or brown and disappear in the yard. This one stands out just great!A great fun toy for a dog!

I have not had much luck with teaching my 6 month old German Shepard to fetch, he loses interest and leaves the ball behind. But with this toy, for some reason maybe the shape of it, he loves to bring it back, sometimes by the body of it, and sometimes by the rope. He brings it back 10 times in a row before losing interest. The shape and swing of it gets him interested better than a ball. The canvas is durable, the rope is probably going to come untied after some use, but I just tightened the knots and hope for the best as of now. The size is smaller than I expected, based on other duck decoys and toys like that I have ordered in the past for my other dogs, but this is perfectly puppy sized. He loves it.
