Use of Water

Amount of water

Low grit pads, 50-100-200, can be used for dry polishing or with small amount of water. If you don’t feel the lower grit pad biting the material, chances are you are using too much water and probably too high RPM. Starting with grit 400 and higher, it is recommended to use more water. Using a suitable amount of water makes the pads work faster and increases their life.

Lower Grits - remove scratches

Use the polisher initially at low speed (1500-2500 RPM) and then increase its speed slowly for faster polishing suitable for specific stone. Skip no grit and start polishing the material edge with side-to-side motion from the top half of the pad to the lower half of the pad. Do not move to the higher grits until you find a smooth surface that is free from all saw marks or old sealant.

Higher Grits - achieve shiny finish

With higher grits (400, 800, 1500), add more water and increase the RPM to 3000-3500 to avoid burning your stone’s surface. You will find good shine starting with grit 800, and the grit 1500 will bring a mirror like finish.

Choosing the right Pads for your project

We noticed during the time many customers who think all pads are the same and they are exactly the customers that have trouble during the polishing process. There are colored pads on the market that can reach good quality polish, but often they require more time and sometimes they even transfer the pads color onto the stone by the end of the process. Our recommendation is to use white resin pads.

Worked good but did not achieve the same gloss level as the countertops original.

Had to cut and polish a couple of granite side splash's in kitchen as we added a tile backsplash. Product put a nice shine on the cut ends. Worked well, just make sure you have the pads affixed to arbor. Didn't pay attention first time I put a pad on and sent the pad flying across the room

Used it on granite unfinished side for bathroom since I swapped the countertop around and exposed unfinished side. Had to start at beginning and used them all but worked wonderfully with grinder. Make sure to have a spray bottle to squirt on granite. Will probably never use them again but was fun to see the results.

Great product for edge pilishing marble tiles. Doing a job that requires the marble tiles (12x12) to heave a finished edge and these worked fantastic. Key is to follow the directions and take your time and you will have a perfect factory polished edge. Highly recommend this product. Price is very reasonable also.

Recently you asked me to write/video/photo review for the product, at the time I only had the product for less than 24 hrs, I am learning how to use it and it is a superior product. I bought one for my son for his birthday and he liked it, so I bought one for myself. Next time please wait until I had time to understand the product before asking for a review. Thank You Very Kindly.

it works but it is very sketchy because of the velcro. When I turn on the grinder the disc actually slips a little bit off kilter. If they changed it to a more secure method, I'd buy again, but this is seriously scary.

These work great. The arbor is lightweight but good for the price. The polishing pads can fly off, so use a face shield and protect your throat with a heavy coat or wrap. The pads adhere with velcro to the arbor, but pressure during work can destabilize them. This is not a design flaw. It is a factor of normal use. Make sure there is nobody within range of a flying disc. The discs are soft, yet their abrasive side can cause a scrape. I hope hearing this from me will help you avoid finding out about it with experience. Apply the pad to the arbor with even strong pressure.

My older grinder didn't accept the attachment wheel provided, because the standards have changed over the years. So I bought a new grinder (the cheapest at Lowe's), but it was not a variable speed. The first attempt at firing it up to polish my concrete hearth could have been DISASTROUS. The Velcro (hook and loop) polishing disc went flying off at full speed immediately, came within an inch of hitting my flat screen TV above the hearth, and dented my ceiling. It wasn't a big deal, but if it had flown in another direction and hit one of my kids in the face, it could have been really bad. It was moving FAST.I didn't end up getting a variable speed, though. I cleared everyone else out of the room, pressed the pad much more firmly to make sure the hook and loop connection was strong, then proceeded by being very cautious about what direction the tool was pointed, and making sure it was flat on the surface of the concrete (not up in the air) when I turned it on.Of course, now I have a variable speed grinder after the project is finished. :-) But I intend to pour a concrete vanity countertop and use this same kit (I only used a couple of the discs) to give it a nice finish. So this time I'll have the proper tool.
