I am new to using a wet polisher grinder. My task was to polish a slab of petrified wood I had purchased multiple years ago in Utah. Reviewing multiple videos on YouTube was helpful in regards to seeing how to use this wet grinder, how long to use particular grit pads, and how the surface should appear at each stage. The first grinder I purchased did not have the pads in it. Whether that was an oversight or otherwise, it went back and I decided to get the ZTE because it was shipped directly from ZTE. “Assembly” was intuitive with all the necessary tools including a hex and open-ended wrench. I appreciated the extra parts for what potential electrical repairs (for the internal carbon brushes), but think it should also have a spare water inlet O-ring. Getting that same O-ring gasket at the proper tightness required it to be screwed down, distorting it slightly. When I finished each day, I relaxed that fitting to allow the gasket to come back to normal shape. I can see it being a potential replacement in time.In operation, the grinder performed well. Pads are easily changed as you move upward to finer and less coarse grits. The speed is adjustable and for petrified wood I used a middle setting. For me, it was important to spend the most time (about two hours) with the coarse 50 grit pad to smooth things out over saw cut variations and cracks in the surface. Fortunately, the original sawing was pretty consistent, something I will look for in future purchases. It is a wet operation, and even with the guard in place, you may get damp. You can avoid getting too wet with adjustment of the water flow. Additionally, I felt safe in the outside wet operation with the GFCI in place on my grounded outdoor electrical outlet.Moving forward to 100-200-400-800-1500-3000, I spent about an hour on the 200 and 400, but after that about 20 minutes each with the higher grits provided that expected mechanical grinding magic producing a high gloss finish. It is difficult to get great pictures showing the high gloss reflections, but they are definitely there. What a fun project producing ideas for finding some more unfinished stone to play with. New hobby!

Great little sander. Did have water leakage from the water line, but easily fixed by adding an o-ring.

This polisher works great, the variable speed lets you adjust for any type of job and the water connection makes it really easy to keep things cool and dust free.

I qualify my review by the fact that I am neither using the water attachment, nor the top handle. So far. I haven't bothered to use the water attachment feature. This is in part due to being in the middle of home remodeling, and without a reachable water faucet until the plumber is done. In part due to my being easily confused and [possibly wrong on my part], attaching the hose contraption seemed a bit more complicated than just screwing it on like a garden hose. Mostly, because I see no need as long as one manually wets the surface being grinded, and keeps it moderately wet throughout the grinding and polishing. I couldn't [readily] get the top handle attached, because the release screws [for attaching such] were too tight on the grinder. I decided to give it a go without the top ... I was being lazy and impatient. For softer material (e.g., marble), or deep and controlled, isolated cuts, it will be more important to attach the top handle for greater stability. Nevertheless, since my immediate project involved grinding and then polishing the complete inside surface of a basalt kitchen sink [basalt is harder than granite], working without the top handle was fine. The tools size and ease of use allowed me to retain a smooth surface and gradation throughout. The pads included, with all their ranges, worked great for all my needs (including my adding stone polish when using the highest [finest] pads. I began with the lower needed [rougher grit] pads to grind out the uneven chisel marks I made when I cut the sinks drain hole via another - diamond bits - tool. Then. I switched to the increasingly finer grits [higher numbers] that came with the product -- until the surface was smooth and even. I was then able to finish with stone polish and hog's-hair buffing pads -- which the tool easily accomodated. The pads I used are still in good shape, so I will be able to reuse them for future projects.Changing the speed on the tool is easy. Its size accomodated the small space inside my sink [most other grinders would not fit]. It was easy to angle, and even to switch hands, as I made my way up the curved sides of the sink. I needed to be careful to not let the edges of the pad grind little scratches at those curves with diameters smaller than the pads, themselves. Due to the tools maneuverability, I could ensure this with little effort.16 hours of grinding and polishing, and the tool and pads are still doing great. When I start using it for planned sculpting projects in the future, I'll post additional info if I find any weaknesses due to longer use (but, based on my initial experiences, I expect it to continue its good performance). The items were packed and shipped well.

I just had a chance to inbox the unit today. There is a little bit of cheesiness going on with the water manifold and the guards but I didn’t use either of them. The abrasive pads and the polished itself work great! No idea on longevity, but I’ve been very impressed given how cheap the unit is. I used it to polish the edges on about a dozen mitre cuts in porcelain today. You can be sure I’ll be back on here to complain if it dies too quickly. I rated it a 3 star on longevity because it’s just too darn cheap to expect much more than a 3 star durability but in a few years if it’s still running, hopefully I remember to come back and update it!The pads it comes with are a nice broad selection of grits. The backing pad has some really great Velcro because the pads stick perfectly and it really doesn’t let go easily. I’ve had other similar machines that don’t stick as well and the pads come loose.

The water supply is clunky as it sits right on top the head. I prefer a back feed unit. Motor is not sealed so be careful, but for the money, a variable, wet grinder this is. The pads alone that came with it were a nice bonus. Polished about 60 square feet of poor in place concrete counters, turned out great.

Great tool ..best advice to give ..do the job outside when ever possible ,if you cannot cover everything around the job in plastic .You see these fancy programs and they DO NOT SHOW THE MESS AND DUST, EVEN WITH WATER TRICKLING TO DAMPEN THE CONCRETE ,because the concrete dust dries out on the floor creating dust ..Also I had to contact the supplier (great help ) due to the machine some times cutting out which I learn was maybe myself being over enthusiastic with the water getting on to the bushes inside ...once I dried it out or blew the bust out of the vent then it started all ok ....so great tool and I've also sent it to a friend already ....make sure the concrete has had a week minimum to go off before smoothing ..start with a low number pad working up to high number..you can also skip a couple of sizes if you wish in order to save you a little extra time ..

So far so good. I like the long power cord and the water line can be hooked up directly to a garden hose.
