This item arrived the next day via Amazon Prime and was packaged in a simple cardboard box.I have reviewed the Specialista Opera and the Magnifica machines from this brand, and this may very well be my favourite. I have been using this machine for just over a month now.-This machine is remarkably easy to use and offers a great entry point into home espresso machines without being overwhelming or daunting.-The product description videos and instructions were accurate and easy to understand. I also watched an unboxing video and some user reviews to give me a better idea what to expect but they were unnecessary as set up is simple and you can be brewing quickly upon unboxing.-This is the smallest and most compact of the three machines I have reviewed --- I am actually happy to leave this on my kitchen counter whereas the other two models simply take up too much kitchen real estate. If you prefer to put this machine away between uses, it is the easiest machine in terms of lugging around and storing.-The drip tray catches any spills or runoff. Clean up is also straightforward because the components (such as the nozzle and milk frother) detach easily and can easily be wiped down or safely used in the dishwasher.-Water tank is certainly smaller but I find this easier to handle when filled.-This is great to prepare one or two small drinks at a time rather than a large batch all at once, however the process is quite quick so even if you are entertaining a larger group of people, preparation is rather quick and does allow you to prepare as much or as little as you necessary.-The interface is simple and I love that all the buttons match the machine and provide a sleek, classy look.-Most importantly, this creates great tasting drinks, even compared to the larger models.Overall, this is an easy to use machine that simplifies the coffee and espresso making process and produces great tasting beverages. A wonderful addition to your morning routine and the fact that it takes up limited kitchen real estate is such a win. Recommended!

De’Longhi EC900M – A Beautiful and Capable Home Espresso MachineI purchased the De’Longhi EC900M on Amazon, and it has exceeded my expectations. Its minimalist and elegant design blends seamlessly into any kitchen, making it as stylish as it is functional. This machine truly brings the barista experience home, offering very good espresso extraction with rich flavors and a nice crema. It’s also easy to use and maintain, making it a great choice for both beginners and intermediate users looking to improve their coffee-making skills. The steam wand, while a bit tricky at first, produces a good microfoam texture—perfect for latte art once you get the hang of it. It does take a little longer than some higher-end machines, but the results are worth it.Overall, the EC900M is a fantastic entry-level option with enough features to satisfy those wanting to refine their espresso-making technique. Highly recommended!

The Delonghi Dedica Maestro EC900M is a great home espresso machine for anyone who wants to make espresso, and espresso derived coffee drinks at home. It is definitely a big improvement over my old Krups boiler espresso maker. The build quality is decent, and has an attractive stainless steel and black plastic look. Most of what looks like stainless steel is stainless steel, except for some plastic chrome trim around the brewing area. There is a removable plastic water reservoir on the back, that can be filled in place, or removed and filled.Controls are simple and make using the machine easy to use. There are five pushbuttons; an infusion temperature control pushbutton, a double espresso shot pushbutton, a single espresso shot pushbutton, a coffee pushbutton, and a steam button. The amount of espresso (or coffee) desired when the appropriate button is pushed is programmable. The steam button lines up steam to the on-off steaming valve that feeds steam to the steam wand. When steaming, there is no throttling this steam valve, as it is either open, or fully closed. So, it is a matter of time and pitcher position that determines froth quality. The Delonghi Dedica Maestro EC900M comes with a portafilter, a pressurized single basket, a pressurized double basket, a single non-pressurized basket, and a double non-pressurized basket. The pressurized baskets are for beginners who have not used an espresso machine before. There is also a coffee tamper, coffee scoop and coffee cleaning kit included. There is also an instruction manual, and a well-illustrated Quick-Start Guide. This is a great little home espresso machine, that has a fairly small footprint, and is short enough to fit on the kitchen counter under most kitchen cabinets. With a little effort it makes great espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and coffee drinks. And the price is very competitive.

Our first generation Dedica finally got too old to maintain, so we sprung for this newer version and are so happy that we did! Interface change was smooth, despite different button order. Machine is a little wider than the old one, but only by a little. If your kitchen layout is a tight fit, though, something to be aware of.Love that this has a low water alert. Old one did not and we had a few near misses over the years at disaster. I'll miss the gorgeous red colour of the old one. My only real wish for this one, though the brushed silver looks lovely, would be that it came in red like prior iterations.Finessing the temp and flow are much easier now. All-around an improvement on the prior version. Makes a fine shot pretty much right out of the box, not much adjusting needed. Looking forward to many years with this one, like we had with the old one!

The first machine I received had a missing filter, and the descaler had leaked and crystallized in a thick layer all over the box and flaked throughout the product box. The replacement arrived in a shipping box with a large blue tag with no print, indicating either a demo or used model, and several cuts along the box seams, and tears. One large tear on the side, revealed a significantly torn and cut inner product box. Intentionally trying to pass off obviously used and probably returned products is inexcusable and despicable behavior by the manufacturer. This machine cost over $300 with tax; thank goodness the damage/missing parts were obvious; who knows who quickly the machine would have stopped working, and I'd be stuck with the tab.

Took a few failures to get the quantity and grind right for this one, but once I did it's great.Dislikes: no feet or sticky pads to secure to counter top, small lightweight machine - it moves with every touch. Steam wand will leak excess water every cup, make sure its over the tray...

It's a good machine for making shots from home. While the amount of crema and quality of your coffee will depend heavily on your grind, preparation, and coffee quality, with some effort you'll be able to pull great shots with this. It does seem to be entry-level for a reason though.Flow isn't always consistent. Even with no coffee in the portafilter, it begins with a drip (which was expected) but then the final flow alternates between even flow and dripping, but favouring flow. I expected for a portafilter with nothing in it to have a consistent, water-like flow throughout the second half of the process. This makes it a bit harder to get an even extraction, but definitely not impossible. In comparison to more expensive machines, this one uses a thermoblock. What that means is that this routes water through a heated section to heat up the water during the brewing process, rather than heating up the water tank, which can cause fluctuations in temperature. Again, this just makes it more difficult to consistently pull good shots due to variability. It's also a bit harder to diagnose water channelling issues as it doesn't come with a bottomless portafilter, though it does look like you can purchase one later. This is purely just for diagnosis though, and doesn't affect the taste. The steam wand is capable of creating latte art quality foam, BUT you will need to aerate the milk for longer than most other machines as the steam is not very powerful. Keeping the wand near the top of the milk gave me the best results overall.Other than that, the machine is excellent. It comes with a semi-comprehensive manual to start you on your espresso journey, both single and double-walled filters, and both quickly heats up and pressurizes. There are options to customize the time a shot takes as well as stopping them manually, which is great for experimentation. The included tamp, filters, and accessories are good quality, so you won't have to purchase anything else except a scale and a good grinder to get into espresso.Overall a great machine to get into making espresso. A more expensive machine would make it easier to get consistent results every time, but with a fair amount of effort this machine can pull an equal quality shot as well. It's a fantastic introduction to making espressos for a decent price, and will help you determine if you want to dive deeper or not.
