Wide enough to fry food without crowding, but deep enough for braising and simmering, sauté pans are the workhorses of the professional kitchen. They are a versatile addition to the home kitchen too, and this large 5-1/2 pan will sauté a heap of vegetables or fry a large batch of chicken with ease. The thick, hard-anodized aluminum construction conducts heat evenly and efficiently through the sides as well as the base, and a tempered glass lid seals in flavor while keeping the contents visible. The securely riveted stay-cool steel handles are oven-safe to 500 degrees F, so food can be browned on the stovetop then transferred to the oven to finish cooking.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic hard-anodized cookware features an advanced Quantanium nonstick coating, designed for healthy low-fat cooking. The coating is tough enough for use with metal utensils. Even delicate foods like fish can be cooked without sticking, and cleanup is quick and easy. Every pan is constructed from durable 3mm hard-anodized aluminum, providing superb heat transfer without hot spots. This pan should be hand-washed with a mild detergent, and it carries a limited lifetime warranty against defects. --Simon Leake

I've had this pan for 10 years now and it's just starting to wear in the middle. It has held up well these years. I pretty much use this pan daily for cooking all kinds of things. Cooks evenly and it's a perfect size for most everything. I always hand wash and never wash it until it's completely cooled off (otherwise it can warp the pan). Now I'm buying another one to replace my 10-yr old pan. Well worth the money.

This is a great pan! It's heavy duty, cleans nice, and cooks like a dream! Perfect for a large meal for a family with left overs for days.

Found a smaller pan at a thrift store of the same brand and fell in love with how easy it is to cook with. We're wanting to replace different pots and pans in our kitchen and one of them was this style. Super easy to clean. The non-stick coating makes it a breeze.

Most 5 quart pans are not large enough on the bottom so I was worried this could fall into that category but it seems to be just as wide as my 6 quart. (I bought the ANODIZED 5.5 QT SAUTE PAN.) I love the bottom of the pan, it’s edges are steep so you hardly lose any cooking space. The diameter at the top of the pan is 12” and on the bottom is 11.5”. I’ve used it twice now, heating seems fast, even and requires less heat than other pans and cleaning is easy. So far it is living up to its name.

This is a nice sized pan, the handle is a little skinny for one hand use, but it does have the helper handle. Yes, the handle on the lid gets hot, one day they’ll figure out how to insulate that. The pan cleans very easily, I have cooked Chicken Carbonara and creamy shrimp scampi in this pan and have had no issues. My daughter bought a pan the same size but made by T-xxxx and it warps on the bottom and the pan spins on the stove, so far this one has not done that. I have not used the pan in the oven yet (I use cast iron for the oven) but I did use the lid on the cast iron skillet in the over at 400° and had no issues. I don’t own a dishwasher so I can’t comment on that. The cooking surface does collect cosmetic scratches even when wooden or plastic utensils are used but it does not affect the non stick. This has been a great addition to my Cuisinart family.

Sent it back - the bottom bowed in the first day so that the middle of pan will not make contact with the stove.

Did not last long. For a sauté pan that price, did warp after only a few uses. (+/- 3-4 uses). Now sits in the kitchen waiting to be replaced.I do not recommend

Cuisinart does not disappoint! I already have this pot and decided to buy another to keep on hand before they discontinue it like they do so many of their cookware pieces. It cooks fabulous, doesn't burn, cleans up like a breeze, is a nice weight and holds up for years! It is my favorite pan to cook with because of the size. I also have the 3 1/2 qt but find it too small for certain dinners I make, so I just switch up to the larger one. I only wish I could find this with both helper handles instead of the longer handle for ease of handling and storing. Otheriwse I have not one complaint about this pan and highly recommend. You can't go wrong with this baby - or the price on Amazon!! T
