Description Say goodbye to frozen pipes in the winter with the 9milelake Pipe Heating Cable - Lenghth Option: 3ft,6ft,9ft,12ft,18ft,24ft,30,40ft .
This temperature-controlled cable runs along pipes and valves, thawing frozen pipes.
The built-in thermostat will sense the temperature of the pipe and turn the cable on and off to provide the most economical solution for frozen pipe disasters.
Use only on water-filled metal & plastic pipes.
How it Works Before applying the heating cable, make sure that the area on and around the pipe is clear and that the heating cable is warm and pliable.
Simply secure the thermostat tightly against the pipe with electrical tape, secure the heating cable straight along the pipe, plug the cable into the nearest grounded electrical receptacle, and let the heating cable work its magic.
The built-in thermostat will automatically detect the temperature of the pipe and turn the cable on when exposed to temperatures below 38°F (3°C) for frost-free pipes all winter long.
It will shut the heating cable off when the pipe has been heated to a temperature of approximately 45°F, incurring no extra electricity costs. What's Included Package includes cable with grounded plug and built in thermostat, user-friendly instructions

Having short versions of heat tape is handy when long ones will not apply to small areas

This is a piece of junk compared to the Heat-It. Spend the extra $3 on the better unit.

The Fob works great. The company gets 1/2 a star. Fob arrived with no instructions just a phone number. I called the # and the Lady that answered was pleasant. When I told her I needed programming Instructions she said she would transfer me to tech support and that I might have to leave a message: Guess what I got a recording mostly giving instructions on how to leave a message if you did not speak English. I didn't even bother. Went to google and got the information from another supplier. BTW read the instructions closely. when it says open the door leave it open and follow along word for word. It's kind of like doing the Hoke-Poke. Also to clear the programming mode. 1) You have to start the car 2) set the parking break 3) put the car in park 4) open all doors 5) close all doors 6) turn off the car 7) wait 60 seconds 8) do it all over again 3x or until they come and haul you off to the loony bin. Seriously though, there is a lot of steps but if you follow the instructions you will be successful and feel like you could do anything. The correct reset is just start the car and shut it off.
