The bits provide clean cuts. Limited use right now, not sure how long they will last.Value for money:Sale price also influenced my purchase .

I had high hopes. CMT makes great saw blades and router bits, with which I have gained brand confidence. This was a different story. Normally, I would expect a half step behind a similar freud piece, but not always. In this case, they were WAY off. The smallest bit was dull and had horrible burring. It burned and gouged the wood, almost instantly. This was using the proper drilling speed on a press, and using care to try and keep the bit cool -- to no avail. A shallow hole was a burnt strain. On the 2 1/8" bit, there was a poor cutting edge with nicks all along it, resulting in a ridged bottom vs flat bottom. And rust...Do better CMT

A nice set. Using them to start hollow forms on my lathe.

Very disappointed in the quality. They are poorly machined and have burrs on the cutting edges. I have not used all of the sizes, but some of the ones I have used cut poorly and overheat because of friction. I would never have expected this from CMT.

One of the better sets I have purchased, clean holes, not much bit clogging compared to other manufacturers

When I first started woodworking, I bought a twenty dollar Forstnet set and have used them for years. Now many of them are burned and unusable. I figured I would throw down some bucks for a quality set. Unfortunate for me I chose the CMT brand. I had a 1 1/8" size in my cheap set that was never used and did a side by side comparison of the same size of the new set I just bought. (Chucked into a drill press, drilling into red oak) The chinese bit drilled a hole with only a small ridge at the top of the hole, faster, with less effort and less heat buildup. The CMT bit produced a significant ridge at the top of the hole, more effort to plunge into the wood, and the bit was hotter after drilling. I then stroked the cutting edge of each bit with a diamond sharpening stone and tried again. Each bit performed better, but my chinese tool still stood higher in quality. I returned the CMT's. Got me some Freud brand, their new Precision Shear. Good stuff.
