Needed to smoke grilled ribs..this worked very well…used apple wood chips that charred great. The box is robust and can be used repeatedly. It is suitable for “light” smoking but if you need more, buy a second box. Cheers!

I like the fact that the lid is removable. I have another smoker box that has a hinged lid. If you are not careful when adding the wood, it will become lodged between the door and body preventing the lid from closing. This little smoker box kept me from buying a pellet grill!

I'm a lifelong charcoal grill and smoker user who just recently bought my first gas grill. Obviously going from them to using gas is a bit of an adjustment but I knew using a woodchip box would help. I got this steel version as well as the cast iron version, and trust me, go steel 100%. It's lighter and also has holes in the bottom to help heat up the chips. For charcoal users I would still suggest just putting the woodchips directly in the bed of coals. You'll use more but it will produce more smoke. But if you don't want to go through too many chips this will do. On gas grills this is basically your only option to produce some smoke flavor. Don't be fooled into thinking it's going to produce the same flavor that an actual smoker would, but it will help add some flavor. It came in good condition although I haven't had it long enough to say how it will hold up. Long story short, it'll help add flavor but be realistic about what it is.

Good quality and design. Air vents on bottom and removable top allow the perfect amount of air flow and smoke. The top has a handy small extension on each side to remove the top. It holds a lot of wood chips if you need longer smoking.

I have been using this with smoker pellets in my natural gas charbroil grill with very good results.It's a bit of trial and error go figure out the best way to use the smoker box.But it has taken direct heat from the burners very well, i have gotten it glowing red hot more than a few times, and it's holding up very well.I found its best to warm the grill up first, get it smoking, and then start grilling!Using real wood chips, i can get a ton of smoke, but until i find a good source for wood chips, it's much cheaper to use pellets.I'm still learning, and my methods are bound to change!

After looking at what seemed like 10,000 smoke boxes, cylinders, etc., I finally chose this one mainly for the low price and the looks. I didn't go wrong!This little box rocks!I've been a gas grill man for a long time, simply because it's much more simple than using charcoal (which I loved). I did some research and found you CAN smoke on a gas grill. I have company coming the last of May and I wanted to make some great BBQ which MUST have some smoked flavor.To get some practice, I chose my first victim... a whole chicken. I spiced that baby up and let it set overnight then I soaked my mesquite chips overnight and the next day it was SHOWTIME. I filled the smoker box with chips and cranked up the grill (one burner of three, on low). In about 15 minutes I had smoke and a 350 degree grill. I put the bird on center of the other two burners, kept the temp between 350 & 400 and in about an hour and a half I had the perfect smoked chicken. The meat thermometer said 165 degrees and it looked delicious and it was delicious! The best chicken I have ever smoked including on charcoal!Later, (with a full stomach) I cleaned my grill, emptied the burned chips from this little box and it is ready for next time. Other than a little discoloring, you can't even tell it's been used. It is very well built.If you're looking for a good smoker box for a good price, you sure can't go wrong with this little baby!Happy Smoking and Happy Eating!UPDATE:This little box just continues to amaze me! I have been using the heck out of it with chicken (whole and cut) chops and burgers all for practice for THE BIG ONE, a pork shoulder. I did it.I got the grill and smoking box going good and put on the big ole shoulder. I kept the temp between 350 & 400 degrees. I had plenty of soaked mesquite chips on hand. After two hours I refilled the box and kept this up for almost seven hours. The smell was unbelievable. I thought I was gonna have to get my shotgun to keep the neighbors away! haha After seven hours and a meat thermometer reading 180 degrees, I took the shoulder off and put it in my big crockpot and shredded it up. It stayed there on high till my guests came about an hour later.There's not a BBQ joint within 50 miles that could compare to mine. Everybody raved!So, back to the box, YOU'LL LOVE IT! I know I do and it's made me a BBQ MASTER!
