Product Description

pellet grill

If you wanna try adding some smoke flavor the next time you fire up the grill, but you don't own a typical meat smoker, you may still be in luck.

For a very small price, you can start adding smoke flavor to your food at home right now.ᐟ‪‪.ᐟ

🟠 Use on Charcoal Grill ◡̈

The first step is to get your grill going.

Once the charcoal is lit, place the smoker box, with the lid closed, on top of the charcoal and then place your cooking grate on top.

If you do not have space to put the smoker box on top of the charcoal and still get your grill grate on, that's ok. Just position the smoker box somewhere up against the lit coals so that it is still touching them and it will heat up.

🟡 Use on Charcoal Grill ◡̈

First, preheat your grill. Turn all the burners on the highest setting and let it get nice and hot.

After preheat, place the smoker box in. (The ideal placement is resting on the lit burners but below the grate. But depending on the size and style of your grill you may need to play with this setup.)

DO NOT turn the gas burner the smoker box is sitting on up to HIGH. Even with limited oxygen inside the box the chips may still ignite at these high direct temperatures.

Worry About the Holes are too Small?

Relax, Dear.ᐟ‪‪.ᐟ As long as your usage is correct, the smoker box will work.ᐟ‪‪.ᐟ

As the grill heats up the box, the wood starts to smoke. The small slits in the box limit the amount of oxygen that reaches the wood, allowing it to smolder and smoke rather than ignite and catch fire.

The smoker box keeps the wood contained and allows it to heat up to the 500 degree range where smoke begins to occur.

Contrary to popular advice:

YOU DO NOT NEED TO SOAK THE WOOD CHIPS prior to adding them to your smoker box.

It will not hurt to do it, but it is an unnecessary step and it will just end up taking longer for the wood to smoke as you wait for all that water to evaporate.

⁾⁾The smoke is created by the lack of oxygen in the smoker box, not by soaking the wood chips in water.⁾⁾

I used this in my 18 inch Weber Grill and was not happy with the results. It wouldn't stay lit. The holes are too small to let the air flow keep the embers burning. I had to use the propane torch several times to get it to burn again and again. I through it out.

I ended up buying 3 of these, so if I need to, I can exchange and put a fresh load of pellets into the smoker... I use pellets but wood chips can be used, too... There is no need for soaking wood chips... The boxes are really well made and are just too cool!!!... I use them in my electric smoker or in my charcoal grill, and the flavors cannot be beat... I also have a long set of metal tongs to change the boxes out... (Once the box is out, and it has even sat for overnight, do not grab it with bare hands)... There may be some smoldering wood/pellets inside, and the box can still be hot... Yes, this idiot found out the hard way... But I do not believe you can go wrong with these... I am more than satisfied with my purchase...

Really didn’t create much smoke until the box actually started on fire.

After using the smoker box a few times there are times where you need to reignite the wood chips inside the smoker box. This is normal for all smoker boxes or tubes. When everything burns well it works like a charm. I like to add different flavor wood chips when doing a rotisserie chicken or a tri tip on the rotisserie. The added smoke enhances the flavor without being over powering. When you do have to ignite the chips or just check to make sure they are still burning...there is no easy way to open the lid nor slide the smoker box closer to the edge of the grill. A small handle on top of the lid and on maybe another small loop on the end of the box would allow for easy movement of the box and a quick peek under the lid to make sure the wood chips are continuing to burn. Good product and if not for that small design flaw...it would receive 5 stars.

My boyfriend just purchased a new propane gill and has been pleased with its grilling performance. He decided he wants to branch out and try smoking some meats. He told me he needed a smoker box in which to place wood chips. I immediately ordered this BBQMANN 9" Smoker Box for Gas or Charcoal Grill. The size quoted on the Product Page is spot on with 9 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches. The hefty, vented lid has 10 holes and solid hinges. It is an excellent quality stainless steel and weighs 14.9 oz. This smoker box impressed us. We hope to use it this weekend to see if it does a good job as well as it looks.Update:This smoker box conveniently held our small wood chips when we smoked several steaks for our visiting guests. We were pleased with its smoking performance. It is a great smoker box.
