I saw something advertised on social media for 4x the cost. I thought I could use it to help me strap in kayaks on the roof of my SUV. This design appears generic. There were no instructions or branding. Yet, it is heavy metal, with rubber protector to prevent vehicle scratches. When I latched it onto the door side, it felt very firm and stable. Unfortunately, with my car (Acura RDX) it was a little high for me to use on the back doors. That's not the fault of the step but rather the position of the door latch. It was too high for me to get on and once I did, my body was too high to feel comfortable. The front door latch was a little lower so more comfortable. Unfortunately, I don't think that will work for my kayaks.In any event, if your car is set up properly, this should be great. I'll keep it because it included a little spike that can be used to break a window from the inside in case of emergency.

I ordered this item for my 2006 Cadillac Escalade. It has eliminated to need for a step ladder to access the roof for cleaning, and securing items to the roof rack. I keep it in the door pocket for easy access. It is only large enough for one foot (there are larger units on the market that can accommodate both feet for better safety). The grooved surface provides marginal traction, which I found to be slippery when wet (dependent on your shoes). FYI. I hope to never have to test the window punch feature.

If you have an SUV, especially one with a cargo rack on top, this will be extremely useful for accessing it easier. It’s worth keeping in your vehicle. It folds flat and doesn’t take up much space. It’s also relatively inexpensive and lightweight. Can be kept in the glove compartment, door cargo pocket or spare tire area.

This works well and is an easy and concerns y way to access your car roof (rack, etc). Watch your application, however, as on some vehicles the step might be quite high off the ground due to the placement of the door latch bracket.
