Your cart is empty. The swivel brake pad spreader tool by Capri Tools is a complete upgrade from basic spreaders. Heavy duty steel construction throughout the tool makes it stronger and more durable than basic spreaders. The solid steel swivel joint at the tip enables you to apply precise compression force for a faster and easier job. The oversized comfort knob comes standard for easy tightening with your hand. You can also use a 5/16 inch socket adapter to tighten. A must have tool if you own light trucks and domestic cars.

I had issues with another Capri tool (tube flaring tool would consistently twist ends when flaring), but this one seems well made and works fine for pressing pistons during brake pad replacements. Broke down and purchased after using C-clamps for many years. This tool is convenient and avoids any load on electronic parking brake covers. A nice 4-star addition for me.

I used it to depress the caliper when I was changing the brake pads. It's not a must tool for the brake service but it's cheap enough to consider having the proper tool for a diy'er to have in the tool chest. It's pretty solidly built.

This tool certainly makes brake replacement jobs quite a bit easier. With a tool like this, persons like me who don't have a clamp no longer need to fight with screwdrivers to compress the caliper pistons.Aside from the knob itself (plastic) and the swivel joint (rubber), the tool is made from steel that feels very solid. I've used it about 6 times now, (3 instances of brake pad replacement) and never had any reason to doubt its ability.Naturally, this won't work for calipers with pistons that also need rotation. I'm fairly certain it would work fine for multi-piston calipers, but I do not have any experience with multi-piston calipers. As for the value, at first, it seemed expensive at $19. But the more I've used it, the more I treasure it. As I said in the title, if you're a weekend warrior or professional I believe this is a must-have tool.

Many buyers complained of quality, but it held up fine and worked perfectly for me.Much easier than fiddling with a c-clamp.Should have got one of these years ago since I do brake jobs for myself, my family, and friends.

On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, this thing is a 10 star... I change brakes for I think every single person I've ever met. Not really but I definitely do at least 15 brake jobs a year for friends and family for free. I just used this tool today for the first time and I have never had such an easier time doing brakes... As a matter of fact I'm ordering a few more of these tonight too. Just in case something happens to the one I already have. I've got so many different brake tools and this one is by a million times my favorite. And I think it's cheap as hell for what you are getting...I now have 3 of them, because the first one worked so good. I've been changing brakes for the last 34 years and have never looked forward to it. I just did it to save money and help other people save money. Even though I have the impact and all the tools necessary to make it easier. I just never liked doing it for whatever reason. Lazy? Idk... What I do know is that I'm excited now and I can't wait to do brakes again... No more large C clamp for me anymore. Yes I also have the other specialty tools but nothing even comes close to this thing... The quality on this tool is definitely superior to most others... And yes it's heavy duty. I just used it on my 2015 chevy tahoe ltz with the max brake package and it was so easy to push the large dual pistons all the way back. My 3 yr old granddaughter could have easily pushed those pistons back with this tool... Yes its that easy that you will do it with one hand and the other hand holding the caliper... No problems at all, not even a hint of trouble. I should have changed my pads sooner though because I waited so long that the pad was gone and I screwed up my rotors. That's how much I disliked doing brakes... I had the pads for almost a year waiting for mine to go bad... No excuses other than I just didn't like doing brakes until now... I just included a picture of just one of my socket drawers for those who may think that I'm just a guy with very few tools who doesn't really know what I'm talking about... I am a huge tool guy... I have just thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tools.

This review is for the Heavy Duty model. It was much easier to use than a C clamp on my recent single piston brake job, I am sure there will be a bit of fumbling with a dual piston setup and having to use an old pad to compress them both at the same time but not more than with a C clamp. Only downside - knob is plastic, I think the socket head that sticks up through the top of the knob is actually the top of the screw and is metal but the knob appears to be plastic which is always a risk for stripping out on a really tough job. But at least if it does strip out you still have the option of the socket head where you would not on other models. Although with how easy it was to turn the knob and compress the piston, I dont see it ever happening. As far as its stoutness, its not quite as heavy as I thought it would be but it sure worked well and I dont see it ever getting pushed past its limits. All in all I think it was worth every penny and is a great addition to my toolbox.
