Bought this mainly for usb 3.1 spec and uhs2 reader. Works as per spec but runs extremely hot. Even when no card is inserted or usb devices connected, the unit run hot. I am worried if my UHS2 card would get damaged as I could feel the heat on the card after use.

Dunno what happened to my original review but this will be an update. So the device is ok. My goal was a small tb3 hub for my alienware with uhsii sd slot. Took me awhile to get the tb3 working. Had some issues with the smb settings in turning windows features on and off. Those originated with a wd wireless passport pro nothing to do with the device. But it was causing issues with my tb3 port for some reason. Now i have it working with tb3 but only when plugged in to the port before powering on the laptop. Unplug the device while laptop is on and you will have to reboot the system, because it wont recognize the device. AS far as performance the sd card slot doesn't utilize the best performance from my Sony g with a write speed of 300mb. I average about 170-190mb on my tb3 port. Ironically I have a usb c port on the side that only works with legacy usb 3.0 that is stable 190mbs better than the tb3. I did some other testing with some external hdds and no matter what port you use it maxes out the read and write speed of the drive. I will do some more testing with some ssds but so far i think its a good device but with tb3 might really be for someone that has a mac with no other ports. And I will update my review with further testing. I want to try the speeds with multiple devices attached.Ps. Customer support is awesome and will recommend any of their products. One of the few companies i actually get a reply from and very quickly. Also works for android.

Purchased this as a small portable hard drive dock to test new replacement drives before installing in servers. Does not work and am throwing it out.- It makes a very poor connection to the drive.- Does not sit flat when connected to the drive and requires padding on the drive to make a level connection.- The HDD vibrations while running causes connector to loosenAfter 20 minutes of use if failed completely. Tried 3 more new HDD’s and a different laptop. Poor design and no warranty mention on this Amazon listing. Going back to my bulkier dock.

Data doesn't exist if it doesn't exist in 3 places!Validating what's in the product description, I was able to copy UHS-II SD card data at high rates to both my laptop and to the connected external (SATA) SSD (the new memory stick) at the same time. 200 MB/s to 280 MB/s as you can see from the screen prints.... UHS-II speeds of 200+ MB/s are achievable (280 Mb/s my new 2019 MBP). If you use the "Zedge" app on Mac, it copies simultaneously to both your Mac HD and your external SSD (connected to this device). Cool !!Day 1, I can say it's cool for anyone needing to connect both card readers and portable drives of all types.I was inspired to do 2 YT's, Part 1 was connected to my MBP (everything bus powered). Part 2 is with the Note 9 and validates the 12v power supply works, allowing your phone to connect to multiple devices. Amazon doesn't like external links, so just search for "Mike M" and "USB C Hub for Photographers/Videographers" and/or Cable Matters.2024 Update: I just tested a Samsung 850 Pro SSD on my M2 Ultra TB4 port, works great, 530 MB/s read/write. Also fast rates for SD cards (see photos). You may ask, why the MicroSD? A: DJI OSMO Pocket 3!

Initial Review:This hub is fairly standard and does what it’s supposed to do. So far the product works great. I still have not tested the SD/micro card readers, USB Type A, nor the SATA 3 port. I will update this review once I have.Out of the box, I found the design to be dated. The SATA 3 port cover is fairly decent but doesn’t seem sturdy. The product is lightweight and feels cheap but of the plastic material. As mentioned before, most of the ports haven’t been tested except the USB C which I found to work perfectly. Connected the hub to a Thunderbolt 3 port and then connected a dual SATA 3 enclosure with two SSDs and everything worked just as it should. Transfer speeds are lighting fast. Overall, I am satisfied with it. So far so good and I hope it stays that way.

Purchased this because it has a UHSII slot. I'm using all slots and the SATA3 connection. This mini hub is connected to my Thunderbolt3 add in card on a Windows 10 machine. This isn't a T3 device but my add in card does everything a 3.1 Gen2 device will and then some.I like this device and it's affordable with very good speeds. The only issue is there is an end cap for the SATA connection but when you attach the SATA device there is no way to keep it together. It's more of a portable device than something more permanent to attach an HD and leave it attached on your desk. I simply put a piece of shipping tape on my HD to secure it to this mini hub.

Really appreciate it when a manufacturer sells a quality product instead of engaging in cut-throat price competition. UHS-II is shockingly fast. Maybe the true UHS-II reader alone is worth the rather high price. However, the USB-C wire is really short, like only 6 inches. This makes it very hard for me to attach a DVD player to my laptop. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Still, anyone making an effort to make better products instead of cheaper products deserves a look.
