It has a large cooking surface that drains fat well and has very even heat distribution. I've owned a couple of different home griddles and this is the best performing one I've used.

I was looking for a good, heavy griddle. This gridle works well. My one complaint is that it is advertised as being made of stainless steel. This is one of the reasons I bought it, and would definitely justify the price. However, it is in fact made of aluminum. The only SS parts are the backsplash and the handles.

We researched a tonne of griddles. This one is pricey but so worth it. If you let it heat properly the heat distributes thoroughly and no hot spots. Cooks 8 small pancakes or 6 larger ones evenly! Easy clean up, I just wipe surface with warm soapy cloth. Love this griddle and wish we bought sooner.

We have purchased this griddle for ourselves and now for both of our grown children. My own is about 5 years old and gets used regularly and is as good as the day it was purchased. Our daughter has been using hers for a year and a half and loves it. The cost is higher than a lot of griddles but the quality is superior and the griddle heats evenly and consistently unlike previous griddles we have owned. Very easy to clean. Highly recommend this griddle.

The surface of the griddle was rough and pitted and I was concerned that food residue would become lodged and the griddle would be difficult to clean. This is one of the more expensive griddles available on Amazon. It is made in the USA and I would have expected better quality control.

UPDATE below: Contrary to some of the more enthusiastic reviews, there are in fact noticeable hotter spots and colder spots, but compared to others, they're not bad. The back legs that adjust for a both a level height and a tilted drain angle are a better design than the "tilt and drain" offering by another competitor. The hardy heating control and cord surpass the competition as well. Surface seems to be very durable, although time will tell if it wears off or breaks down like other non-stick surfaces. With the metal handles and harder plastic, the construction is very nice.UPDATE 01 JULY 2017: After about a month of semi-frequent use (about 3x/week), at NORMAL cooking temps, the griddle surface has developed cracks in the surface from the heat. They are just inside the edge, next to the plug-in thermostat. They are not due to temperature changes from washing, since I never wash it with water. I always wipe the surface after it has cooled, with paper towels, since the non-stick surface is so easy to clean that way. That's about as gentle of use as one can exercise. No tapping, no scraping, no metal utensils used on it. Disappointed that we can't make a griddle that lasts these days. I say "we" since there's a little American flag next to the griddle listing on the Broil King website.UPDATE 06 JULY 2017: I contacted Broil King about the warranty to see if I could get a replacement, attaching the same pics that are attached here, that clearly show bulges with cracks in the middle of them. I quote their response: "I forwarded your pictures to our engineer, and he said these are the normal markings on the griddle surface. Thanks, Elaine Giarnese, Customer Service, Cadco, Ltd., 200 International Way, Winsted, CT.."And there you have it. Bulges and cracks from normal use...are "normal markings on the griddle surface." Warranty is meaningless. Product is cheaply made. Service department thinks the customer is an idiot that can be lied to and dismissed.UPDATE 19 JULY 2017: A Cadco Ltd representative (they own and manage Broil King) emailed to tell me that they don't handle warranty. She claimed Amazon does all that. This contrasts with the instructions to contact Broil King for a return authorization number. Blatant ignorance or lying. After the first push-back that the obvious cracks were the normal surface, I suspect the latter. Totally worthless company, and other cheap griddles that I've owned never cracked like this one has. Avoid this product and this company.

I read reviews of several types of electric griddles before purchasing this one. I didn't care about fancy features or griddles that could do more than be a simple griddle. What I was looking for was a good, solid, durable construction as well as a surface that was easy to clean and that heated as evenly as possible. After reading a number of reviews on Amazon and other places on the web, I felt that this griddle seemed to be the one I was looking for. I am very pleased.I waited to write a review until I had used the griddle for a while. It does heat very evenly. There is a caution in the instructions that the left side of the griddle may heat faster at higher temperatures. I tend to use temperatures in the medium and low ranges and have not noticed this to be an issue. There is a slight difference in temperature around the coil but if you give the griddle proper time to heat up this is nothing all that noticeable. Where you will see the evidence of the coil is that with time the area around the coil begins to discolor the surface on the top. I can also see discoloration in the shape of the grill cakes I habitually make on the griddle. This is nothing troubling to me, I'm fairly certain this would be the case with any griddle. I could probably remove these stains somewhat if I scrubbed the griddle with a light abrasive but I don't want to harm the nonstick surface and the discoloration doesn't bother me.The surface is slightly textured and then coated with a very durable non-stick surface. I have used the griddle mainly for crumpets and pancakes. Out of habit I lightly grease the griddle by rubbing with a paper towel that has a small amount of oil on it. This is all that seems to be needed. I've never had an issue with food sticking.Cleanup is a breeze. I just wipe the griddle with a paper towel to remove any particles and then rub a very light amount of oil on the surface as I do when seasoning cast iron. If I were to use it to make something messy and greasy it would be quite easy to take the griddle to the sink to give it a more thorough wash. The surface is also nice and large which was also something that mattered to me. I can easily grill 8 crumpets at a time or 6 good sized pancakes with plenty of room between items. The guard that goes around the back and sides would be excellent if I were to fry potatoes or something loose like this, providing something to scoop the food against while turning. I haven't needed to use it but it's a nice touch and is easily removed and replaced for cleaning. If your needs are like mine and you just need a good, solid griddle with a large surface, this is the one.
