Why Spot Heating Makes Sense in Your Home

You hastily get ready every morning, head for work, the office, or school, just when the central heating system has finished warming the entire house. It's about as inefficient as it gets. Spot heating solves that problem. No longer will you heat an entire home when you simply need a bit of comfort in the bath or dressing room, or any other room.

Efficient Heating Element

Even the most efficient central heating systems send heat up the chimney. But Broan spot heaters deliver every bit of energy back into your home. There's no external venting, so the electricity you convert to heat is delivered directly where you want it.

Simple, Safe, and Efficient.

Permanently lubricated motors are quiet and require no maintenance. They can be operated by a built-in adjustable thermostat or an optional wall-mount controller. Heaters may be converted in the field to a choice of wattages/voltages. And for safety, heaters are thermal overload protected and the complete heater assembly conveniently removes from the housing for cleaning.

This was the only heater I could find that was the right size to replace one that no longer worked in our entryway. It heats well even though it is in an area with a high ceiling. The fan is louder than many people might want if you are going to use it for long periods of time.

Had a Nu-tone wall heater installed 17 years ago that needed replaced. This Broan -NuTone heater was the exact same size and no modifications were required. In this time period, difficult to find something that size still stays the same plus the heater works great.

In general, the unit seems of good quality. The cover is plastic, and does not look great in our finished bathroom, but not terrible. Our biggest critique would be the unit is fairly loud, I would say along the lines of a small window air conditioner. The unit was easy to install, and works fine, may be better suited for a mud room,

We bought this heater to warm a small room 8 x 10...never provided sufficient heat to warm room completely and has died after only being used briefly last spring and from late fall to last night when it quit completely...did not even last a year...absolute crap for what we paid😡 very disappointed and dissatisfied!

I bought this to replace a heater with a grill size of 10.5" X 12.5". Since this is the size shown for this heater 3 times in the ad, I thought it would be a direct replacement. Wrong! In the last sentence of a paragraph in the description fine print, almost as an "Oh , by the way...", the actual size of the grill is correctly listed as 14.76" X 11.5". The actual cutout is only slightly smaller than that. Fortunately I had enough space to make the wall cutout larger to accommodate this size. Just be aware of the actual size difference. Also beware that the wiring is only available from the top of the unit, there are no side knockouts.Other than the unnecessary installation hassle, the heater is very quiet and works well in the bathroom space. It heats the area very quickly.

Got this to replace an aging unit that was very heavy on the energy consumption. This unit arrived on time and was very easy to install. Took less than 30 minutes and that included modifying the wall opening to fit this heater. There was no hardware to mount it other than two screws to attach the face plate and heater to the mounting box. You will need to provide your own screws to mount the housing to the wall and you will need to have your own Romex box connector to safely secure the wire as at the point it enters into the housing. The heat output is extremely low. I have this set up for 220 and where my old unit would run for 20 minutes then cut off because the room was warm. This one is on its second straight hour of running and the temp has only gone up a few degrees. Extremely disappointed in the performance of this one. Oh and it is not the quietest unit I have head being louder than the 15 year old unit it replaced.

Update Jan 2013: I starting hearing more and more noise from my Heater fan and was worried the Fan motor or bearings were worn out and beginning to fail. The noise ended up being the plastic housing vibrating against my ceramic tile wall. Simply touching the plastic housing stopped the noise. For a permanent end to the noise and to not have to worry about over-tighten the mounting screws in the plastic housing I ended up using some mounted flush on the edge of the housing so you can't even see it. This tape cushions the housing against the wall and prevent any vibration from the housing from bouncing off my tile.Update Nov 2013: My heater worked well for 8 months and then died (no power). The issue was a thermal protector had blown (it functions like a fuse to kill power to the unit if it overheats). I called up Broan Customer service and they shipped one out to me free as it was still under warranty. Good thing as it's as a $60 part. My heater is back to normal fighting morning chills.October 2012:My main bathroom had a 40yr+ old built in wall heater that stopped working 5yrs ago. I finally decided to replace it with this high quality Broan wall heater. The heat actually blows straight out from the bottom vents, while the top vents are for the air inlet (and remain cool). I was amazed at how much better the new heater was than my old unit. The Broan is fairly quiet, all you hear is a normal fan hum when it's running. Once the unit reaches the temperature you've set with the dial it turns off and then will cycle back on when it drops below it.Electric heaters are perfect for bathrooms as they can quickly heat one room without having to turn up the heat for the entire house. The rest of the house can be 65F while the Master bath can be raised to 80F in 10min. So we no longer need to turn up the whole house to take the chill out of the bathroom. The new heater was about 1/2" wider than my old opening so I used a wet/dry masonry blade in an angle grinder to cut through the ceramic time and cement backer board (took maybe a minute or 2). The installation was just a few easy steps with simple accurate diagrams.Update 12/17/2012 Back in October I didn't think we'd be using it much until December, but found we actually have it on almost every day to take the chill out of the bathroom. It's on for about 1.5 hours every day and has worked great.Note: Another buyer commented the unit doesn't have a thermostat. Probably to save cost the manufacturer didn't include a temperature display or include temperature markings of any kind. The control knob functions much like a standard hot/cold temperature knob in a car. There is an Off setting with increasing heat settings. The unit DOES contain an internal thermostat and will cycle on/off to match the HEAT setting on the control knob.
