A bit glitchy at times with connection and some occasional speaker hissing and crackling but sounds pretty good when that’s not happening. Unit is otherwise in good condition and remote works.

I first tested my Ipod with another speaker; the Ipod was fine. This arrived, and to be honest, it worked for about 5 minutes, then the only sound I got from it was crackle-crackle-click-click-click, repeatedly. I tried everything--unplugging it, plugging it back in, re-seating the Ipod and the plug on the back of the Bose unit, all to no avail. Don't waste your money on this. (I should mention I had this very same unit, in black for many years, and it worked perfectly; this one was DOA).

I have loved my Bose sound dock for years until one day it simply ''gave up the ghost''. Tried to get it fixed but no one even wants to attempt it. One electronics repair guy simply said: '' Try and find a good used one'' , which is exactly what I did. Thank you Amazon dealer. Had the unit sent to my next door neighbour because we would be away from our home for a few weeks and it arrived, beautifully packaged with great care. My iPod is back where it belongs, on my nearly new Bose docking station. The sound is exquisite, nothing else like it, in my estimation.

The sound (up/down) buttons were stuck making it very difficult to adjust the sound volume. After an hour of trying to adjust them, they just quit working. Pushing the down volume button just turned the machine off.I get that this item is old, and refurbished, but my advise - do NOT ever buy anything from this company if this is an example of their quality

I have a 10 year old iPod classic. I needed some speakers to use with my iPod. Browsing Amazon I came across this product. It is great. The sound is good, the loudness is right for the room I work in and at least the iPod can be charged as well. The age of the iPod means that the battery is not lasting as long as it used to. So having this Bose system works well to keep the longevity of this gadget alive. It was more money on speakers than I would have initially paid out for but, the brand, and the system itself was worth it. And of course being gentle with the system when using it is also essential. Especially the pin for the connection. It was packaged well, I didn't have to wait too long for it to be delivered, and all round I am happy with the purchase.

Great product. Sounds great, small footprint. I ordered a used one that was described as in “acceptable” condition. Well I couldn’t find a flaw and everything worked. The only problem with these is that the connection can be a bit temperamental when you first connect the iPod to the dock. Just make sure it is secure and wait about 10 - 15 seconds. I worried that since it is a used product that the dock would be worn. So to avoid wearing it out I bought the CoolStream Duo bluetooth adapted and just leave it on. Now I control my iPod from where I am sitting.Being such a small speaker you are not going to get house shaking bass but you do get a very even and clear sound at a decent volume. Recommended.

I listened to both at Apple store, and felt I needed a better test at home. So I bought both Bose and Apple. My report? Bose sounds a little richer, fuller. Apple has more user control capabilities to tune the sound for more bass, classic, jazz, etc. although none of these seemed to do much. Bottom line, both are good. I moved the Bose to my wife cuz she can't deal with making different settings, I kept the Apple so I could try a few changes in the settings and it was a bit louder and almost equalled the Bose in quality. If my wife told me to swap 'em, I'd be fine with that too. Slight preference for Apple controls and using ipod displays, slight preference for Bose sound richness. Uh, Bose does take up less desk top space. Sorry if I can't tell you that I have a definite pick, but it's a slight edge to the Apple for me (controls, visibility of what's playing) versus a slight sound advantage to Bose. Oh, should all our choices be so good.

I usually read reviews but never comment but this time, I had to as I am so impressed with these speakers. I just got my ipod this year and have been busy downloading music to play at our annual neighborhood gathering which usually has a turnout of 50-75 people. I researched speakers and decided on the Bose due to other recommendations and I wasn't disappointed. If I could have made a commission on selling ipods and Bose speakers at the gathering, I would have been rolling in the dough. We used an extension cord from the closest RV and put the ipod/Bose speaker combination on the tailgate of our pickup. It was far enough from the gathering so not to drown the conversation PLUS the outdoor atmosphere and the conversation didn't drown out the music either. The speakers have a rich sound to them and the music played for 13 hours straight on the day of the party. I got compliment after compliment on the music as well as "how such a little speaker could put out such rich quality outdoors". I'm sold and it wouldn't surprise me if next year I'm hearing about how many people went out and purchased their own ipod and Bose speakers...
