About this item

  • Rigid stacked-plate design is resistant to damage, and much better at cooling than ordinary 'fin and tube' coolers
  • Constructed from black finished lightweight aluminum alloy for maximum corrosion resistance
  • 11" x 5-3/4" x 1-1/2" racing model is rated at 15,000 BTU, and pressure tested to 200 PSI
  • Fluxless, oven brazed construction is vibration resistant
  • Multiple oil flow paths for maximum cooling efficiency

Adding this B&M SuperCooler keeps the ATF and transmission cooler, and keeping a vehicle's transmission cool is essential for dependability, especially in performance applications. The unit is designed to be very efficient for its size and weight, to cool much better than an ordinary 'fin and tube' cooler, and to reduce the risk of lube system failure. Using fluxless, oven brazed construction for vibration resistance, it is built out of lightweight aluminum alloy and features a revolutionary 'stacked plate' design with multiple oil flow paths. The unit monitors resistance to flow by allowing a controlled amount of ATF to pass through a self-regulating orifice. Controlled by viscosity, thicker ATF is returned directly to lube through two bypass openings in the stacked plate core, while thinner ATF is directed through the core to cool as operating temperatures increase.

Very good product a little weak at fitting locations but it is aluminum so that is expected. Also, read instructions it does tell you this and how to tighten the fittings. Work very well.

Every automotive project I have ever done (that's a lot!) I have put a B&M tranny cooler in line to protect the transmission and have NEVER been disappointed with the quality, performance,or appearance. This one is in a Chevy LS powered Jeep Wrangler and I have no reason to believe it will not be as good a product as all the other B&M items I have used over the years.

The local Aamco transmission dealer told me to isolate it from the factory cooler (radiator), but most of the comments I read on installing transmission coolers said the factory cooler should not be eliminated, but provide the first stage of cooling. So I connected the transmission cooler after the factory, so they both cooled it. But I noticed that when I stopped at red lights, the temperature on my transmission fluid gauge went up pretty quickly. So I eliminated the factory cooler so the transmission cooler now works independently. Sure enough, the Aamco man is right. It doesn't heat up nearly as rapidly when idling. It's only logical: remember how idling causes the fan to come on to cool the radiator?I only wish now I'd gotten the biggest capacity cooler, because summer isn't here yet in Florida, where the average temperature will be in the mid-nineties.

Installed it in my 09 G8GT, to work with a Yank 3200 SS Torque Converter. The cooler is doing the job, 131F trans temp rolling down the freeway at 70mph, 185F in Los Angeles traffic, travelling 60 miles back and forth, during LA morning/afternoon rush hour. It doesn't come with anything other than the cooler itself (since this is the race version), i bought the fittings through amazon as well, so no problems there. great unit, great price.

I bought this model for my legacy GT (auto), it comes with only the cooler! Nothing else. The racing version is thicker than the normal versions of the cooler 1 1/2" vs 3/4". I got the racing version cos I'm in the tropics and temperatures here are 85-90 Fahrenheit so a cooler rated to 15,000 btu helps during spirited driving. Product was well made and the car did feel much smoother to drive. Install was a little bit of an issue but if you have a good mechanic, it should be fine. Would recommend it to help keep transmission fluid temp down and extend the life of your transmission

This cooler is part of their racing series. It does NOT come with anything but the cooler and the instructions on how to mount it. It is very light weight, but feels sturdy. I have not mounted it yet because I am waiting for an oil filter sandwich to come in (I am going to use it as an Engine Oil Cooler). The racing models from B&M are well worth the extra money. They cool better, and they can be used for more then just a transmission cooler.

This is a very nice cooler. It is built to last and looks great! The kit comes with everything you would need and more for custom mounting. It's a great deal at only $10 more than "racing" version that doesn't come with anything but the cooler.UPDATE 1/26/2011: The cooler mounting is still sturdy and haven't had one issue and the transmission is nice and healthy. Definitely a good choice! I would also recommend installing an inline filter before the cooler just as an extra precaution while you're monkeying around in there. It's cheap insurance and will save a transmission.
