I use this for a short water trough for my baby goats. It keeps the water from freezing and does not seem to use a lot of power doing it. Easy to use and wont melt the rubber or plastic bins. I am satisfied

We are using this to heat our chicken's water to keep it from freezing and it works great so far. No matter the weather the water stays in its liquid state. Hopefully it will last through many more winters.

Advertising shows a picture of it in a birdbath. Instructions say it needs 5 gallons of water to operate safely. I can't use it for my intended purpose, despite it being advertised as such.

Out of the box this heater felt heavy and solid- plenty of weight to keep it anchored in the water. The unit heats up nicely as well, and does its intended job. The cable seems thick, well-shielded and durable, and should last a long time. If you are in need of a good anti-freezing heater for your medium to large water tank/feeder, try this out!

We have received some unusually cold weather in the southern U.S. recently which caused all of our birdbaths and fountain to freeze. The biggest concern is my fountain which is made of very solid concrete weighing hundreds of pounds making it difficult to just empty. We also have a pump that will burn out if the water freezes too deep in the fountain. So I ordered this heater to help but unfortunately I ordered too late as the freeze is over. The heater is very sturdy being made of metal and having a high-gauge cord. Simply plug in the heater and let it do its job. I did test this in pretty cold water (~40 degrees F) and it didn't take long for the heater to bring the temp up by ~15 degrees F. That is all I really need it for and it performed well. As a note, this is not something you leave in water 24/7. I would recommend this to anyone with a larger fountain that needs to keep the water flowing.

This water heater arrived just in time, as we were expecting several days below freezing, and I needed to leave town. The flock had water at all times, even with the temp hovering around 0 F.. I did need a weatherproof extension cord to get to the plug in the shed, but that was no problem.

You can plug it in and forget it for the winter season...as long as you keep water in the container. Certainly beats carrying buckets of how water to the pen to melt the ice. The cord is just short of ten foot so it is generally long enough to do the job. I've had no trouble using this for the last month or so.
