About this item

  • Main Control Chip: BIGTREETECH Octopus V1.1 control board adoptes ARM Cortex-M4 series STM32F446ZET6 32-bit microcontroller at 180MHz with 512Kb flash ROM. Notice: Input voltage only supports 24V, 12V is not allowed.
  • CAN BUS: BIGTREETECH Octopus V1.1 32bit control board supports CAN Bus connectivity using an ethernet connector. This CAN Bus connection allows to expand control board with other expansion boards very easily.
  • 6 PWM Fans Plus 2: The Octopus V1.1 Mainboard offers up to 6 controllable PWM fans and additional 2 without control with the possibility of voltage selection from 5V, 12V or 24V. The BTT Octopus also has 8 sockets for drivers, making it an ideal electronics for demanding machines.
  • Supports Klipper/Marlin: BIGTREETECH Direct Octopus V1.1 32bit control board compatible with BTT Pi V1.2/Pi 2, supports running Klipper and Marlin, supports firmware update by USB (recommended) and DFU mode(advanced users). Updating via DFU mode is to send firmware to the board directly from PC with no need for bootloader, which is not recommended for novice users.
  • Type C powers the MCU: Plug the jumper cap into the 5V USB power supply port of the motherboard. You can use the Type C interface to power the motherboard, which makes it easier for the computer to program firmware. If the jumper cap is pulled out, the switching power supply must be turned on when the motherboard is connected to the PC.
  • Multifunctional interface: BTT Octopus V1.1 control board support Eddy V1.0, BLTOUCH, Microprobe auto bed leveling sensor, SFS V2.0 smart filament runout, power loss detection, CEB V1.0, SKSM V1.0, automatic power down. It took a lot of youtube and chat gpt but I got it working. This is for a scratch build and my first printer. Take your time and it will work.

This is the second one of these I have bought for different projects. This one is going into my Voron Trident build. Easy setup, works great. No complaints.

New motors, pulleys, drivers and this board, my printer now moves like it will hurt you if you were to stick your fingers in the wrong spot. Excellent. Before with a stock board with onboard drivers doing the same would make it skip steps. I've got room to upgrade with this which is great. Kinda wish the thermistor chip wasn't a tiny smd mod, but otherwise this seems like a great board so far.

First board worked for a month or two, worked out the kinks and finally started printing. It shuts down and then refuses to connect to my Rpi and now it just exploded…. shows how reliable these boards are

If you want a fully loaded motherboard for your 3D printer, this is it. Its impressive how many ports and features on the board. Follow the guides online, or find some useful Github repositories and youll be up and running in no time. I personally use it in my Voron 2.4, works great and has supported all the extras i've added.

Used as a massive major huge upgrade for my sidewinder X2. Lots of motor, fan and sensor i/o make this the perfect board. Marlin 2 firmware compiled for it without any issues (once you get your toolchain all set up).Now running independant Z axis, inductive sensors on x,y and z and I'm about to re-add the filament runout sensor, and some RGB LEDs.Perfect for the DIYer.

For the applications in 3d printer builds I do, it works like a charm.

This board has everything except thermistor amplifier. If you need the very high temperature amplifier then get the PRO version. Great in every other way, multiple voltages for everything, lots of plugs for every option imaginable. If you have a printer build with multiple heads or z steppers, this is the one you want. Great price too!

I bought this for my Mendelmax build that I've been working on. The title says "Octopus v1.1" but for some reason I received an "Octopus v1.0". Whatever. I finally got around to wiring it up and trying it out. BigTree has firmware on github for Marlin, Klipper, and RepRapFW. I tried Marlin first. Got it communicating, but the endstops were not working. I finally gave up on Marlin and switched to RepRapFW. Got it working after lots of fiddling. I purchased the WiFi module to go with it, but when the WiFi module is installed, the board won't boot. Still trying to understand why. I managed to get RepRapFW working and doing what I need it to, although I still have some tuning to do before I get decent prints. I'm not familiar with Klipper, so I haven't tried it yet. Bottom line- this board is for advanced users. If you are not comfortable figuring out wiring and poking around the source code, you should stay away because the support from BigTree is non-existent. There is a user manual with some sparse details. Best thing about this board is that they provide the schematic, so at least I can figure stuff out myself. I've been to their web site and tried to ask questions on their "forum" but I cannot register. Their generic wordpress forum complains that it's not configured to send email properly, which means my account cannot be verified, and I have never managed to post a question on their forum because of this. I tried to let them know through another email address on their site intended for "warranty and refund" but I still got no response. Looks like if you buy this, you are pretty much on your own. BigTreeTech- if you are out there, please at least fix your forum registration process so I can maybe connect with other users and we can help each other solve our own problems!

The board overall is well made and the connections are robust. I chose this board to update one of my printers to dual z axis and dual extrusion. Could have gone with SKR Pro, but I liked the fact I could set the voltages for various components like fans and inductive sensors. I have a mix of12 and 24 volt fans running, with no extra hardware to modify voltage.Setup info Isa little.scarce but if you Google."BTT octopus setup" you should find a guide. Even Wifi was easy to setup. You simply had to drop the firmware file on the SD card labeling the wifi firmware "esp3d.bin" the bootloader does the rest. Very critical you name the firmware files appropriately. Would hate to flash the wrong firmware on the wrong board. Overall working well and happy with my purchase.
