Mukka Cappuccino Express 2 Cup Bialetti has done it again. With the invention of the Mukka Express, now it is possible to brew barista quality cappuccinos and lattes right on the stove top. The first of its kind Mukka Express has already been met with wild enthusiasm in Italy, and now available in the American marketplace. While the funtion of the Mukka Express employs the tradition of stovetop brewing, the top portion of the pot is filled with milk so that as the expresso enters the top chamber, it mixes with the steamed milk and within minutes 2 cups of cappuccino are brewed and ready to serve.

The first one was a bust and very frustrating. I watched videos and asked questions but no luck. When they sent the replacement, I was ready to go and the first one came out perfect. My one tip is to heat up both the milk and water before putting them in. I do a minute in the microwave for each. If I use sugar free creamer, I heat that for 30 seconds. Stays hot a lot longer. I love the froth on the cappuccino option. I use this daily, and it is still in good shape six months later. Cleanup is not easy; it can get a film but doable. I hope they are not discontinuing because I would definitely buy this again in the future.

Great cappuccino maker! It takes time but it's worth it. Makes two very small cups for two or a mugful of cappuccino for one. I use Bialetti Moka grind Milano Morbido for the espresso and organic milk. Use the enclosed beaker to measure the water (it is a little under 150 ml of water for a gas stove) and about 150 ml of milk (prewarmed in the microwave for about 35 seconds, a necessary step). Don't rely on the measurement line inside the lower water pot -that's too much water and it will overflow on your stove. Trust me, it's about 150 ml of water and 150 ml of prewarmed milk (almond milk works well, too). Takes about 5 minutes on medium heat on a gas stove. After pouring out your cappuccino rinse the upper pot and fill with water to prevent milk proteins from clogging the device. I'm glad I got this. Hand wash and air dry everything. I found you get better froth and foam when all components start out dry. I've made consecutive cappuccinos and very little foam was made. But I didn't care because to me the coffee drink became a cafe au lait and I live in Louisiana so that's fine with me.

I am a big fan of Bialetti Moka Express, I have two pots at home (2 and 6 cup) and use them regularly. Unfortunately the Mukka Express cappuccino maker was a complete failure for me. I have read and adhered to the manufacturer’s instructions, watched the instructional DVD, and read countless product reviews with helpful advice to make sure I can get it to work – to no avail. I gave this pot several tries by adjusting the flame strength and diameter; cooking times; and the size of coffee grounds, but the result was hardly ever good and never consistent. Below are the issues I encountered. Some of the water always remained in the bottom chamber. As a result, you did not get two cappuccinos, you got one. Also, the cappuccino was more like coffee flavored milk, because the would-be coffee was made with only some water, while the rest of it just sat below. If I cooked it longer, the coffee would burn before all the water was used. If I cooked it on a higher flame – the pot would leak coffee from the sides and/or the coffee burned. The pot would leak coffee if the flame was too high (instructions recommend medium to high flame), or the coffee was too finely ground (instruction recommend espresso ground coffee) despite of having a spotless rim and securely screwed on top. What helped was using coarser ground coffee or reducing the flame. But when the flame was reduced too much, not enough foam was produced and the milk wasn’t hot enough. With the flame higher, the foam and milk temperature were fine, but the coffee leaked all over my stove. It was impossible to get it right.Another minor hassle was cleaning the unit – the valve had to be cleaned immediately or it would clog up with milk. The unit is heavy and bulky, not the easiest to handle (screw, unscrew, wash) for someone with small hands (referring to a 2-cup Mukka). When the unit works as designed (I only got a decent outcome once), the coffee is pretty good, but not great. The cappuccinos are (1) rather small, and (2) rather weak. You’re better off using a regular Moka Express to make espresso and add foamed milk separately – which is what I had been doing before getting this unit and have been doing again since returning it, which I did after one week of trying.I think part of the issue is the design of American cooking ranges. In Europe, ranges have much smaller burners with more closely spaced flames with lower sitting grates, so the flame is more direct. In the US the grates are higher and the burners are bigger with more sparsely located flames. I found that my Moka pots perform better on a small camping stove, so the same might be true for the Mukka Express. If you have a ceramic or electric stove, this machine might work just fine. Still, I’d say get a regular Moka Express and a milk frother for a fraction of a price, and enjoy simpler and better cappuccinos and lattes.

I was not sure what rating to give for this product because what it creates is AWESOME. Unfortunately, the one I received was defective. The pressure valve was not working properly, consequently not enough foam was created because of this when I made cappuccino. Just because of this I don't think it was fair to give anything but at least 4 starts since I can see that most of the users do not have this problem.I am returning the product, I bought the cow design, and I am ordering the silver one hoping that it comes from a different production run, and that it will not have the same defect.UPDATE: I had to change my rating to 5 stars. Here is why: I thought that the silver one is done on a different run, and it may work better. I love the cow design but I had to try the silver one. I did. I got the silver one with the black bottom, and I can say that once again what it creates in AWESOME. No problems with the pressure valve or anything. Also, I heard people complaining about cleaning the filter. It is very easy. Right after you make the product and pour it into the cups, hold the whole unit under cold running water for a few minutes. Disengage the bottom part, clean as the instructions tell you. VERY EASY. Takes 15 seconds. And for the filter, just run it under a strong stream of water. On my faucet, I turn the raining feature on and it does it by itself.

Saw this lovely little machine in an expensive cook shop & decided to "resist" & look on amazon - On here it was £20 less!!Received my Mukka Express & the Box has "New Clic Clack" design written on it which refers to the base & pot slotting together. Cant say I can hear a "clic clack" but I have certainly had NO trouble what so ever slotting it together like the other reviewers have mentioned.Cant understand what all the problems are that others have had - I have found it VERY EASY TO USE to use from the word go & I can honestly say that the coffee has been the BEST I've ever had. (I've used Illy Expresso but I did try my normal filter coffee choice & it worked with that too)Ive found it VERY EASY TO CLEAN, just filled the pot with cold water as soon as its been poured & rinsed it out with warm water later - no big deal (I've found it less messy than a caffetiere)I was a bit wary of how I would know when my cappucino was ready as it says it makes a "puff" sound - well that sound is very pronounced & easily understood - the valve pops up as well, Ive tended to leave it a few seconds longer so that the milk is really hot. Very occassionally it Puffs & pops the valve up way too early & if poured its cold but I have learnt that since It takes exactly 4 minutes like it says it does its obvious if its too early, so just push the valve back down again & it works just fine.Other moans people had was coffee getting stuck in the seals etc & stopping it sealing properly - I found if you fill the filter with coffee BEFORE placing it into the base by holding the "stalk" , that way any stray coffee does not go on the pot - I also use a small teaspoon for this rather than my coffee measure which is larger.I dont know how it works but its AMAZING - water in the bottom, coffee in the filter, milk in the pot & perfect creamy cappuccino with lots of froth every time - I absolutely LOVE mine & cannot recommend highly enough...I am SO glad I ignored the poor reviews & gave it a try
