This is a welders must have clamp. It's made of heavy cast iron and works ok as is but to make it great it needs work. The paint job is really bad.Lots of paint on the clamping surfaces that needed to be removed and no paint on a few places on the clamp it's self. The lead screw is NOT Copper as claimed by other reviews its copper plated steel. Its plated with copper to keep weld spatter from sticking to it. The screw handles bent the first time I used them so I cut them off and welded a 1/2" nut to the end and used a wrench to tighted. All in all its a good buy for the money.

This thing is a solid heavy casting that can take the heat and abuse of a commercial machine shop. That the angle clamp is solid makes the inevitable tweaks worthwhile. The black mild steel plates on either side of the threaded pivots aren't countersunk. The retaining screws are intended for 82 degree countersinks which makes the proud screw heads into a nasty snag point. A quick touch with a countersink allows the retaining screw screw heads to lie flat.A minute or two with a file or hand grinder will knock off the casting flash that otherwise could blemish the clamped stock. The right angle is accurately milled and the copper plated Acme thread smoothly delivers anything from a delicate to solid grip on the up to 1 3/16" stock to be welded into a right angle. The clamp really does tolerate welding different size stock. As a bonus a single clamp lends itself to making an exceptionally solid jig for abrasive or blade 45 degree stock mitering. We quickly made a jig to reliably miter square 1" tube frames for TIG welding into case frames. To our horror my spouse used the same jig to build up a bunch of wooden picture frames -- the accuracy was perfect, our fear was that the inevitable grease and metal chips in a machine shop would damage the prefinished frame stock.All-in-all and excellent tool that's worth the purchase cost and a few minutes of tuning.

They worked great clamping the tubing for the shelter. Great time saver assembling and welding this building.

Definitely not a high end machinist vice, but held angle iron & round stock (separate jobs) at a 90 degree angle to be welded. Made life much easier to build square frames. The main body of this clamp is cast iron so it's pretty rigid. Another fabricator & I are talking about trying the 3 dimensional clamp next.

Unless you've got multiples of the angle clamps it's actually really hard to get the steel lined up really well when trying weld a corner that's been but to 45 degrees.
