I recommend this product. I wanted to continue to use an old Garmin Nuvi, which needed a new battery. I am a senior lady and I am in NO WAY skilled in any type of repairs, but I easily tackled changing the battery using the provided instructions. If I can do it, you can do it. I was able to keep my old Nuvi out of the landfill, and me back on the road again.

Good tools and instructions. Reconnecting the ribbon cable is tricky for dexterity. I needed a helper for a third hand.

Works well and easy to install... would recommend some double stick take to secure the battery.

The Installation of new battery was easy. I used a YouTube Video guide which narrated each step. New Battery works great!

Garmin must have GPS programmed not to allow charging of replacement batteries.GPS works OK with power cord but shows low battery all other times.

I ordered this battery to replace the one inside my Garmin Nuvi. It was pretty straight forward to do. Now the battery lasts for more than a week without charging it. Before while using the Garmin in my car, once it became unplugged from the power outlet it would lose all of the information I had put into it. This was awful to input all of the information again especially when you are driving. Now it lasts and lasts. Awersome battery!

Having read reviews highlightling the poor quality of the supplied T4 tool, I took great care when unscrewing the first screw, taking the same approach to the second screw the splines on the driver disintegrated leaving it useless. If you buy this battery, which I'm sure is fine, make sure you have a decent quality T4 before attempting the job. No doubt some Nuvi 57's have easier screws than others!

Although purchased for the correct Garmin Nuvi, the instructions were unclear. eg "take out two screws holding circuit board" - there are actually four. There was no help on the correct polarity connection of the battery to the circuit board. No success with the sat nav so threw into dustbin. Life is too short to spend this amount of time changing a battery!

As this Nuvi is 3 years old, I expected it might be difficult to open, which is why I bought this kit with tools at a rather high price. The tool provided immediately stripped out the screw heads. I doubt that I will ever be able to open and reclose it, so now it is junk. Caveat Emptor. At least I discovered this within the return period, so only lost the GPS.

I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 57 two years ago. About two months ago the battery would not hold a charge. I contacted Garmin and they told me that I really didn't need the battery. Well, for various reasons having to do how I use the device, I do need the battery. Their options to me were to buy a refurbished device for $89 or upgrade to a new model at 20% off. They told me that "... the battery is built into the device and is not user replaceable." I love the Garmin but those really aren't favorable options for a two-year old device. So, I do what I normally do and search Amazon for a solution. I found this replacement battery kit. The kit comes with a screwdriver, a plastic pry tool to open the cover and a CD. Almost everything you need (more to come). The CD was very detailed and showed a step by step replacement of the battery. In less than an hour, my Garmin works perfectly and has a charged battery. However ... isn't their always a 'however' ... one part of the replacement is a little tricky. There is a very thin ribbon cable about an inch wide that connects the back of the case to the screen. The cable connector is a very simple device, which is good and bad. The instructions show how to remove the cable so you can replace the battery. That's easy due to the 'simple' design. They also demonstrate in the video how to reconnect the ribbon cable. It ain't that easy!! Also due to the 'simple' design. It only took the guy in the video about 15 seconds. It took me at least 30 minutes. I think the guy in the video has either done this numerous times, or they did a lot of retakes making the video. I was finally able to connect it but it required the use of a pair of long tweezers to hold the cable while inserting it into the cable connector. Once I went the tweezers route and abandoned the stubby fingers approach, it took me about two minutes. If your battery won't charge, you're good with small devices and you have a little patience, I highly recommend this solution. Only time will tell how long this battery will last. Hopefully more than two years, but it only has a one year warranty. Still beats buying a new unit.Update: May 6, 2021I can't believe this, but the battery is still working fine over three years after I installed it. It is not giving any indications that it is having a problem holding a charge.
