This item is well made and works well. I bought it along with a 256gb Micro SD Card for my Surface books (I have a SB1 13.5", SB2 13.5", & a SB2 15") I tried the adapter in all 3 and it fits fine in any of them. It's great for adding storage to an otherwise un-upgradable computer. That being said you should bare in mind that this storage is only usable when you have the surface book docked to the performance base.

Perfectly fits my Surface Book 3 15", no more SD card hanging out the side ready to break off.

My two 13" Microsoft Book computers, the original and the Book 3, are fast handy and mobile but they only used full size SD Cards. They stick out too much to leave in while mobile in the case.Just like the pics in the ad it takes a micro SD card sideways, so it hardly sticks out at all, and lets me keep it in all the time so no hassles for extra storage. I have swapped cards more than a few times without any issues. Speeds were good too!Easy to use and more durable than you would think. Works perfectly.

So I can vouch that this little adapter is quite functional and effective as a purchase still in 2022. Rather than buying the latest iPad, I realized that for my needs the older Surface Book 2 was a better fit for my primary uses. So with a simple, high quality 512MB mini SD card (separate purchase) and this adapter, was able to quickly expand the memory of my rig. (The card I purchased was already formatted, but I re-formatted it so that the card would not be recognized as removable storage but viewed as an internal drive (like a partition / folder but treated as single unit, as some software doesn't play well with saving to removable storage). From comments when I was researching the product, it seems that some customers may have inserted it the wrong way and forced it, in some cases causing damage. Just take a moment to ensure you have it aligned the right way and insert it gently, doesn't need to be forced. It sits flush and blends in quite well from a design / aesthetic perspective. Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it. On a related note, I also purchased the Skinomi full body protector (film), also available here on Amazon, as bit of sleek and effective protection. Also highly recommended.

Great purchase. Delivered on-time and good packaging. I popped in my 1 TB Micro SD Card and inserted it and Viola! I now have a total of 3 TB on my Surface Book 3 15" laptop. Speeds seem to be very good, It actually looks like it is part of my laptop and it doesn't stick out beyond the laptop edge - Absolutely Perfect Fit / Design. I do not plan on pulling out the 1 TB Micro SD Card frequently as this was to increase my storage capacity for working with large 4K Video Files and Camera Image files storage. If you plan on popping it out all the time just get a regular SD Card instead and don't complain about how hard it is to remove this device. I highly recommend this Micro SD adapter for the Surface Book 3

Assolutamente perfetto!

Genius idea to expand storage - I have this in MS Surface Book 1 for additional storage with SanDisk Ultra microSD. Works perfectly, always available, file transfer is exactly the same as regular SD card. Flush to the base of the Surface Book. Extensible storage at sensible prices as microSD cards increase in capacity and reduce in price per Gb.Used for approx 6mths with no problems. Extracted to replace with a full size SD card every now and again - it does require some finger nail but nothing unusual, certainly provides confidence that it will not fall out.If you have a Surface then get this to expand the storage at a reasonable price - if you are about to buy a Surface don't fork out for larger internal drive.

This is a well-made and clever device that allows you to save some money on the Surface Book 2. I have the 15 inch model and saved a few hundred dollars by going with the 512GB SSD version over the 1TB. Knowing that flush-fitting SD card adapters were available made this work for me. The Base Qi 351A model is made for the 15 inch Surface Book 2. It fits perfectly. It is completely secure, out of the way, and won't snag on anything, yet leaves access to the fingernail groove from the top for ready removal if necessary. I've attempted to capture just how it fits and the fingernail groove in the picture. After installation, the SB2 immediately saw the card, and has done so after shutdowns and restarts as well. The aluminum edge of the device adds some rigidity to the adapter and compliments the finish of the Surface Book but does not exactly match it. The price seems high for something as simple as an SD card adapter, but this is a high quality device and it can allow you to save many times its cost on a high end computer like the Surface Book 2.

So this thing is literally the coolest idea I have seen in a long time. For whatever reason Microsoft decided to design an SD slot that had the card sticking out just ever so slightly. Not a huge deal probably for most users since, who ever puts an SD card in their computer? But I use the surface book as my work issues machine, and I am IT consultant with pretty intense performance and storage needs. In my last machine I had 1tb of storage with expandable drives and bays, now it was a beast so I decided to slim down. I got the 256gb storage model and I needed some way to just add a bit extra to the mix and this was perfect. It sits flush with the side of the system and can be easily removed. I popped a 128gb card in there and love it! The one thing to note is that the storage will not be available when you use you detach the device from the base as the SD card slot is embedded in the base of the surface book platform. Not a big deal and should be fairly obvious but I thought I would call it out so everyone is aware ahead of time!

Very recently, my mom bought me a Surface Book with 128 GB of storage for my first year of college. I figured that it would be cheaper to get the 128 GB version and just increase the storage via an SD card. Upon inserting an SD card for the first time last week, I was kind of disappointed to discover that half of it hung out of the slot. Not exactly what I'd call useful (for my needs anyway). After some digging, I found the BASEQI. I was hopeful it would be as nice as everyone on here says that it is, and it definitely is! It is machined beautifully, and fits my Surface Book perfectly. It is completely flush with the body of the laptop, and is pretty easy to remove too. The color doesn't quite match 100%, but seriously... who cares?! It looks great and works great too. Thank you so much! A little pricey, but totally worth it. It's top quality, for sure... and even after purchasing this along with an SD card, it's still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a Surface Book with a higher capacity drive. And not having to deal with a protruding SD card is obviously a huge plus too.
