The display numbers are small and one must lay in the dirt to get close enough to read the display values.

Use in all the indoor plants to stay on top of watering. Good purchase!

Easy to use and efficient at showing moisture levels. Hoping this will help me save my plants from overwatering!

Bought this cause I have over 75 house plants and I was watering them all at the same time, and some of them started to get root rot because I was overwatering. This thing is perfect to measure the moisture for the soil and let me know when I need to water each plant as they all have different watering needs. Plants are now thriving and happy. It’s easy to use and seems pretty accurate!

I purchased this device to determine moisture content in my garden beds and patio planters for a more quantitative determination of watering needs. The good: It is quick and easy to use; it helps avoid over or under watering, and does not require batteries. I like having the analog meter readout which gives me a better feel for the range of moisture levels rather than a digital readout of wet or dry. Light intensity and pH measurements are also available, selected using a switch. I don't find these particularly necessary and rarely use them, though it is handy to have the ability to check soil pH; again levels are read out using the analog meter. A caution: If the soil is hard, it can be difficult to insert the probes and if too much force is used, I suspect the housing, which feels a bit flimsy, could be damaged or the probes bent, so in my view it needs to be used carefully under these conditions. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others. I might pick up a backup or two, as they are not expensive.

I love my plants but somehow have a black thumb (I kill plants unintentionally) so I bought this hoping it would help prevent me from over or under watering my plants and it works amazing. It really helps to let me know how wet the roots are when the top layer of dirt is on the dryside. It takes a little bit to get a good reading and I think the light reading might be a bit off but as far as moisture levels, I totally recommend this to plant lover!

The moisture meter just doesn't quite work. You can pour water directly into the soil and the meter won't move. It's been wrong in both dry and wet directions. The sunlight meter DOES seem to be quite accurate. Needle moves swiftly. The pH meter is worthless. Almost the entire time I've used it it has claimed a pH of 1-3. . . which would be burning my plants to death and that hasn't happened. It's cheap, though, so you get what you pay for.

I read the instructions, did just as it said, unfortunately it did not work at all for damp/wet/dry soil. The button was slid to the right option for each thing and still did not work. The light measuring part was really terrible. I have a plant lamp from amazon, some sort of 4-bendy-arm on a tripod style, and unless this thing was almost touching the bulb-bar it did not react to the light. Even an inch away showed no light. Putting it at my plants for sure showed total darkness for them. They're not far from the lamp. I've another light, an Idoo machine it also did not register unless held nearly against the top lighting "roof" and those plants are an inch or two away but as soon as I moved it to plant height, it acted like the tomatoes were in total darkness. The PH meter did nothing. I have some pots that are just dirt. I have some that actually have PH balanced whatever, food and whatever going on. I'm not great with plants but they're alive so far. The PH option did not register on any of them. I did not test this in the Idoo machine, that's a hydroponics system using pods and water. I only used the light meter function.I did not test the prongs in water, I think this might have been the one where the packaging said to not test it in water or lemonade, I thought that was funny... who's been testing it in lemonade... and why? lol(I bought two different brands of this w/ prongs on a green box like this, other was about 4 dollars, and have the second one still to test out)So, I returned the one I tested and found to be defective on all 3 settings.I didn't feel like trying a second one of this exact type, was afraid it might be from the same lot. Might try again in the future when there's a different stock rotation maybe. Probably not though.I found it incredibly difficult to read the screen. Black (or just very dark) screen, tiny white text, plus astigmatism makes for a blurry disaster. My vision isn't great, but the print was tiny and I think it may have been printed a bit pixelated too (but that could also be my vision, either way I couldn't really read it). plus trying to lean over and see a non lit up screen was a hassle. Definitely can use improvements. I mean, beyond the fact it didn't work for me.

This product is great, especially for those of us who do not possess a green thumb. 2 years ago I purchased my 1st poinsiettia house plant. It's been a real trial knowing whether it had the proper amount of water, light, & ph level. At times I knew my assumptions were incorrect as right away leaves would yellow and fall off, indicating stress. Even when you finally mastered the appropriate amount then seasons change. Winters cause homes to be dry because heat is on and windows closed, plus amount of daylight less. Summers present temps that are high along with more daylight and sun. My brother purchased one of these and advised me to purchase too. WALLAH! Now I can measure these levels and protect my beloved plant! I cannot attest to how long this instrument will continue to give the correct measurement as I only recently purchased it. I will say that it is very easy to read and use without having to play or toggle with buttons and that it seems to be very accurate. It is an excellent value for its price and I highly recommend, claudia
