I should leave a review after basically 5 minutes playing with it but it's the only acoustic pickup thatA: sounds goodB: installs in 5 minutes of reaming the strap holeC: is $50 Canadian and has a volume wheelD: doesn't NEED a preamp pedal. Obviously sounds better with one, but this is a STACKED humbucker with a great natural tone.E: could be removed in under 10 minutes with a Swiss army knife and no other tools. And put it whatever other guitar you want....but tbh I recommend putting it in the cheapest but best playing guitar bc it's not picking up the actual guitar sound, so it sounds like an acoustic sim pedal but better bc you can compress this with a pedal realistically..This pickup doesn't sound like a typical acoustic pickup because it's pulling the sound from the magnets, not a contact transducer or piezo strip under he saddle. For this reason....it actually sounds GOOD! This sounds the way you wish the boss simulator pedal sounded, because you can very easily clean boost, distort, compress, so whatever with the signal from an acoustic running through this and NO FEEDBACK. So if you have a vocal mic it gets a good blend of warm tone from the humbucker and the airy sound of the guitar hitting the bottom of the mic cone..All this to say, this is an AMAZING way to amplify. It's also a great way to bi amplify your acoustic and bc it's reversible you can add or subtract this from multiple guitars

I replaced a much more expensive L R Baggs M1 with this item Far cheaper and quiet hum free operation very natural sound. I use Tony Rice bluegrass strings ( Monel) and this pickup reproduces the clear sound of these excellent strings very well. The pickup does have a volume control and can be as loud as you might want. I was surprised this passive pickup could be this loud without a preamp, just straight into the amp. I'm happy!

This is a stacked humbucker, slimmer than other similar models. Passive (no electronic circuitry, no battery needed). I have another in-hole magnetic pickup which is more expensive & this one sounds just as good. I like the volume control on this pickup. Installation was fairly easy, I recommend getting the brad-point drill bit needed. Fits nicely in my Martin OM. Doesn't pick up any detectable EMI. Worked well out of the box. It comes with installation instructions which you can also download from Amumu website ahead of time. I use an acoustic amp at home & into the board with an active DI at church, so I did not need the Amumu Glorifier DI, although you probably can't go wrong if you do get the Glorifier.

I have a 2008 Epiphone Hummingbird, which does not have electronics. If I would have waited just a few months, the Fishman system would have been standard on this guitar. Anyway, I used my other Acoustic for church services, and the '08 on occasion (non-mic'd prayer meetings, campfire stuff...). When the need to play more acoustic popped up - I knew it was time to install a pickup on this one.Price wasn't really the object - but the fact that the AMUMU SP60 is very affordable helped weigh my decision. I was considering the EMG ACS system but did not want to take off strings to change batteries. LR Baggs and Seymour Duncan were essentially the same pickup but cost considerably more than the AMUMU. And those were single coil, this is a humbucker. My hopes were high.Well, this pickup made a decent 'cheap' guitar sound amazing! From the moment I plugged in, everything about this guitar was different. More lifelike. Thunderous lows and sweet highs (in a cheap dreadnaught with veneer top) are there to spare. Thus far, I keep the volume knob pegged at full and control the volume through the amp.Quality build, very simple installation. Although I did not install the jack through the end strap button - I drilled a separate hole. Reason? My other acoustic has that end pin. And I don't care how tight you make it - the strap WILL loosen the input jack, so you will be re-assembling the jack every time you change strings. (most of you know what I am talking about)Look - if you are shopping here for an after-market acoustic pickup, let me influence you to purchase the AMUMU SP60. Get off the fence and go for it.

I bought this pickup to replace an active piezo system on my 12 string Martin, and was so impressed I felt compelled to write a guitar magazine-style review.Pros:It's passive, so no need for batteryIt's a humbucker so it's noiseless. The tone is almost identical to the much more expensive L.R. Baggs M1 Active, but oddly it has MORE output. It works great for strumming and picked soloing. It attaches very easily, and the unit looks very professional, minimalistic.Cons:Maybe it's just me, but fingerpicking was harder to do on the AMUMU as opposed to a piezo. I have a feeling it's just a matter of adjusting to the way the pickup works and feels. One thing to keep in mind if you are used to using a piezo pickup, this pickup will definitely sound and feel different. I'm only one gig into my journey with this pickup, but I know for sure that it's going to stay on my guitar. It a significantly different tone from the piezo, but it's a good tone. I will probably end up doing a two pickup system with a piezo and this one just to have some tonal variety, but I look forward to using just this one for a while and learning about all of it's sonic possibilities.

I installed this in a Takamine EG340SC acoustic guitar that I needed to "electrify" for use on stage. I had looked at several other contenders at Sweetwater, but they were far more expensive. I wanted the finished install to look good as many alternatives either look like a block of wood stuck into the sound hole or are some color that doesn't match the finish of the guitar, This one is black and from about 10' seems to disappear into the sound hole. Another thing I wanted was an internal cable that went to a pin jack for the guitar strap; many high end pickups have a 10' cable meant to dangle from the pickup externally and look tacky to me. FinaIly, I wanted a humbucker type pickup which this happens to be. The install took about an hour as I had to destring the guitar, remove the strap pin, drill for the strap pin/jack, install the jack, hide & secure the internal cabling and mount the pickup; in that order. Not a difficult job, but if you're uncomfortable working on your guitar (changing pot and pickups on an electric, etc) you might want to take it to someone that won't ruin your instrument. The outer strings were not exactly centered over the pickup but it still sounded good even without adjusting outside coils. Overall, I really like this pickup. I plan to listen to it for awhile and might order another for a Yamaha that needs one.
