I take one star because the soft box packaging was not ideal for such a fragile item, that said, the item arrived perfectly even if the box was a little smashed due to international shipping.Installation was simple and the sound is really good, I can recommend this for anyone with a nylon string guitar who needs amplification.Well done KNA.

Really easy to install. Most importantly, it sounds great… even more so considering the price. I put it through my Boss GE-7 cutting the low mids and boosting the highs slightly for a clear sound. Really recommend this one.

This pickup does everything that you'd expect from the reviews and publicity it's had so far. It is simple to fit and the reproduction of my classical guitar's tone is very true to the unplugged sound. The volume output is surprisingly high; I did not need a seperate preamp and it's perfect when played through my acoustic amplifier.I was particularly happy that I didn't need to make any holes in my valuable guitar, or attach adhesives to hold electronic parts or attachments in place. This is a seriously good pickup.

Attempting a thing always trumps reading about it. That is aptly true of the Kremona NG-1 pickup. I have not received this product in exchange for a review, but for my money, so you can bet I'm biased...the thing better be worth my time, trouble and cash. In short, it is exactly as the manufacturer claims and a bargain at that.Installation could not be easier; if you play classical guitar you get good at tying knots and attaching the Kremona is a breeze when you change your strings. As long as you balance the pickup across all six strings it doesn't appear to be critical how exactly you place it. My test for any acoustic pickup is to balance the volume of my amp so that I can easily hear both the "unplugged" guitar and the amplified guitar. I compare the two sound sources by turning my back on the amp and listening just to the guitar. I then face the amp and listen to it more closely. I'm pleased to say that with tone controls at neutral the Kremona faithfully reproduces the sound of my classical guitar. What more could I ask for?Well, actually there is one thing. The very thin slice of wood that the Kremona is mounted on is of concern. On my guitar the part into which the cable plugs is hanging out in an exposed position. To alleviate my concern, I cut a Popsicle stick to size, darkened the edges with a black magic-marker and simply placed it underneath the Kremona. Once the strings hold it tightly in place it acts as one unit and substantially increases its strength. I do detect a very slight decrease in output, but the sound frequencies are as true as without the added wood. Once I have the time, I will buy some hard wood of the appropriate size from Stew-Mac and glue it permanently to the Kremona.Other than that issue I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. However, I advise Kremona to start using a thicker piece of wood before their competitors realize how easy it would be to correct and place on the market. All in all, i recommend this to any guitarist who wants to amplify their classical guitar with no invasive pickups. While there is some concern over the durability of this pickup, most classical players are very easy on their guitars, respecting them for the fine instruments they are, and will be extra cautious. For my money, even if I accidentally broke this pickup, I would buy another right away. Classical music is beautiful, amplified classical music is even more beautiful because it can be shared with a wider audience, and one can take advantage of all the benefits that modern sound enhancements can bring to bear on the classical-guitar's sound.

I received my Kremona NG-1 and was pleased to find that installing it was as simple as explained on the Kremona youtube installation video that can be found on their USA website. The element alone (not including the cable jack housing) is 750 mm long and 8 mm wide(about 5/16"). Including the jack housing, the NG-1 is 930 mm in length. I installed it on a strung Custom Martin N-20 Classical with a 2.125" nut, 25.4" scale length. I was a little worried that the element would be a tiny bit to wide for the bridge tie bar so I emailed Kremona for the measurements stated above. It was close, but I purchased it none the less. I was happy to see that it fit within the tie bars width with about 1/2 mm to spare. I'm not sure how easy it is to install while restringing a guitar, but will find out soon enough as I replace strings frequently. Just be careful and make sure the strings are properly tied to the tie bar with the final locking twist beyond the back edge of the tie bar. I usually leave a lot of string length to wind around the tuning machines so I had leeway to correct any problems at the tie bar if needed without having to replace the strings. My Martin has the most amazing tone I've ever heard on any guitar, and this pickup did not effect that tone at all after installation. Believe me, I'd hear it and would not be writing this review. The quality of the sound produced by this pickup is excellent, and on par or even better than my newer Martin OOOC with Fishman F1 electronics. I'm really pleased. If you have a higher end classical guitar, and don't ever intend to install electronics and a end pin, this is the way to go. I run the signal through my microphones Art Tube preamp into an Acoustic amp. Sounds great even at high volume. You can use the pickup without a preamp, but will need to turn up your acoustic amp much higher so I recommend using a preamp. If you rattle, bang and move the cable around a lot you will hear it, as there is a direct mechanical vibration link through the cable to the element. Kinda like tapping a microphone. Most classical players sit still and this shouldn't be a problem. If you're bounding around the stage rockin' it, you might have a problem. The only improvement Kremona could do is make the 8' cable longer. I will replace that with a 15 or 20 foot cable. Reasonably priced, fairly easy to install, looks good on the guitar and works well. I love it.
