About this item

  • Professional stereo microscope on articulating arm has long working distance to enable users to perform work or manipulate large items, including circuit boards and dental appliances
  • Trinocular viewing head with pair of 10x super-widefield eyepieces, adjustable interpupillary distance, fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to enable sharing
  • 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective provides continuous zoom magnification and longer focal length for inspecting large-scale specimens, and a 0.5x Barlow lens extends the working distance
  • Ambient lighting illuminates the specimen, eliminating the need for power or batteries
  • Articulating arm stand has 40" reach, and a clamp for attaching to table or desk

The AmScope SM-6TX professional trinocular stereo zoom microscope has a pair of 10x super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces, a 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective, a 0.5x Barlow lens, and a clamping articulating arm stand. The microscope has an overall magnification range of 3.5x-45x. The trinocular viewing head has an interpupillary range of 55 to 75mm, a 45-degree inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation to enable sharing. The vertical trinocular port can be used as a C-Mount or 23mm photo port (camera sold separately). The WH10x20mm super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces combine with the 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective to provide continuous zoom magnification and a longer working distance for inspecting large-scale specimens that require handling or repair. The microscope comes with a 0.5x Barlow lens that can be added to the objective to decrease the magnification range. A Barlow lens with a magnification of less than 1.0 reduces magnification and increases the working distance. High-eyepoint eyepieces ease viewing for users who wear glasses, and dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences. A stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has low magnification and a long working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected.

Ambient lighting illuminates the specimen, eliminating the need for power or batteries. The stand has an articulating arm with a 40" reach for covering a large work space, and a clamp for attaching the microscope to a work surface. The stand can be attached to ledges up to 2-1/8" (53mm) thick.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.

Excellent microscope for diamond setters. I’m using this microscope to micropave set diamonds and grade gemstones. Excellent microscope.

The item arrived with the wrong scope mount ring which was 3 1/4 instead of the correct 3 inch. The scope works but I will have to fix the mount issue somehow.

It’s ok for the price, not the best you can get. The optics are clear and bright with no notable distortion across the field, has a good magnification range for general purposes, which can be changed in the future with additional optics if needed. The only real complaint I have is it should come with a light, I went with the MIC-209 led light which works fine and is necessary. Trying to figure out what light to get is needlessly complex, so I just went for the cheaper one. The other thing I don’t like is the mounting arm rubs and grinds, not a big deal though, it’s heavy and doesn’t wiggle around or lose it’s position when set. It’s just the fit and finish of it aren’t great, but that’s the trade off for paying less for a scope I guess. Overall I’m happy with it, dose the job, optics are good and it swings out of the way, has the option for a camera so your not limited later, although figuring out how to actually mount a camera is again needlessly complex. The working distance is good for electronics which is what I use it for, but should work for just about any task that you’d use a magnifying lamp for. Also beware, they require in person signature so make sure you’ll be at home when it arrives.

Phenomenal quality scope at a great price. We use it to repair jewelry - setting stones, repairing, prongs, etc. - and it fits our needs beautifully, at a fraction of the cost of comparable scopes. We're very happy with the quality for the price, and with the versatility of this FlexArm, which is attached to our jeweler's workbench and keeps the scope close at hand when needed (and out of the way when we're done). It's significantly improved our stone setting abilities, and provides clear, clean images of the jewelery on which we work. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for similar applications.
