If you’re doing this through an airbrush, add a drop or two of airbrush thinner to prevent the varnish caking up your airbrush nozzle.1:3 Satin:Ultra Matte Varnish is a good mixture to protect your models while giving an ultra matte finish.

Nothing better than Ultra Matte Varnish from AK Interactive for miniatures. For strength for table top models I mix in a 1 drop of satin for 3 drops of ultra matte but for display and competition minis I only do that on a single coat after priming and then use ultra matte so I can determine where the shine is with paint.Great product for high quality models and miniatures but not the best for an average war gamer who wants a strong varnish in a single coat. So I would rate it for intermediate to advanced hobbyists. Try it out if you are in those categories.

After using other matte varnishes, most of which seems more semi-matte or satin, tried this. Works amazingly well. Perfect consistency for airbrush. No clogging at all. True flat matte finish.

I use this on all my miniatures now. Makes them look amazing!Only negative is its a bit fragile and easily peels off flat surfaces such as a hex base.
