Im a trout fishing guide in se oklahoma and this combo is perfect for clients new to fly fishing its affordable has a great action for beginner to advanced. I would highly recommend anyone new to flyfishing to purchase this rod reel and case combo. Its not how much you spend on your gear but how you spend your time on the water.

The very first time I took my rod out to practice casting, the reel flew off of the rod on the forward cast and fell into the Potomac. I was able to retrieve the reel, but only after unwinding the entire spool. I now have a a huge wadded mess of line I'm not sure what to do with. When the company advertised the rod was "ready to hit the water", they were serious! I suppose it's my fault that I didn't check it had been assembled correctly before I cast it. Very expensive first lesson.

This is a great rod and reel for the price. My issue is the reel on this combo. The reel has a nice quality drag but I wish when reeling it in it would ratchet. It just free wheels with no friction and will reel itself in unexpectedly while you're fishing.

Normally I write reviews to inform others that they shouldn't waste their money on a product if I bought it and didn't serve its purpose. With this rod and reel combo, it's worth a good review. Really good quality for the price the guides are nice the rod is pretty good as well. My favorite part was the reel. An aluminum reel for that price is fatastic. Deserves 5 stars. And pre-spoiled backing, fly line and attached leader! The only thing that annoyed me was I can get a little impatient when it comes to something I really want. So a week felt like a month haha. Amazing rod and reel. With out a doubt recommend

great product at a great price---------great that the reel comes loaded..I have putting line on reels---i let the bait shop do it…worth the extra $great case to protect the rod!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brand new rod had some scratches and reel had some kind of metal junk on it. Overall a nice real rod and well made except for the minor issue I had. Amazon price range $141 to $97. It will drop. Buy when cheap. I now own two.
