High quality rod and nothing in the kit feels cheap. Great case, too. My only complaint is the included fly line doesn't have a welded loop. So you have to cut the loop off the tippet and nail knot it onto the fly line. Which is not awesome because as a complete beginner, that's not the most intuitive thing to learn (good nail knots are hard, but the nippers in this kit do have a nail knot tool). Would go from 4 stars to five with that detail fixed since a beginner could just set it up and go start casting!

I received the Wild Water Deluxe Fly Fishing Combo for Christmas. Yesterday, I was finally able to fly fish for my first time ever. The fly fishing combo from Wild Water is an amazing set up that made my first attempt at fly fishing amazing. Add in the Wild Water videos that cover all the basics, I am so pleased at the quality, cost and results. With the Wild Water combo, I was able to get good casting results from the start. The balance of rod, reel, line, and lures is spot on. I started landing nice bluegills on my third cast using the included lures and the fish kept biting. I was able to get more casting practice in landing several very nice white crappie and the rod handle a 4 pound bass with easy (I need more practices landing fish). I highly recommend this high quality Wild Water Fly Fishing Combo that includes a perfectly match caring case to everyone. Thank you for a wonderful product and fly fishing experience. I am hooked.

First off: I am a beginner fly fisher. I wanted to see if I enjoyed the sport without spending a fortune. Well, this combo package delivered in spades. I finally got to take this rod out on the river and caught my first trout.Does the rod catch fish? YES. Are there better rods? Yes. Is this a good place to start? Absolutely.I don’t even know enough to talk intelligently about the rod action. I was fishing with very experienced fishermen who were sporting Sage rods. I’m sure those would work better. But this did work. My first time on the river I hooked 3 fish and landed (netted) 1 fish. And that was success for me.This kit has everything you need to get started. And it WILL CATCH FISH!I highly recommend this for the new novice fly fisher. It’s a great way to get started in the sport. And yes, I released the fish. 🎣😎😁

I bought the deluxe combo with the pliers and the cutters back in ~2021. All my buddies were getting into fly fishing and spending much more on better known brand names. They purchased better waders, accessories, rods, etc. I was just wanting to maybe spend ~$200 total on everything so I got this combo and some $70 waders at local sports store here in CO. THIS ROD IS GREAT FOR THE MONEY. After multiple fishing outings, I have to say this thing is durable. When you are use to regular fishing and those rods, fly fishing is a little crazy because the length of the pole. Naturally you are going to bonk into trees with the rod. You will drop it in the river, on rocks, on trees, in the dirt, in the mud. I've done all this and its still working fine. I just got back from a popular river stretch yesterday 11/2022 and caught two fish on this rod without any issues with the gear.10/10 recommend to anyone getting into fly fishing and not wanting to break the bank. I also recommend to spend more attention on tippet (6x is great in CO for trout) and also fly choice. Once I learned tail water flies and rigging it was a game changer. Focus on drift too once the rig hits the water.Fly recommendations for nymphing in CO: Attractor fly: flashback pheasant, guides choice hares ear, San Juan worm.Leader fly: Any midge or emerger pattern but with the mercury bead at the top. This looks like a small clear glass bead and helps imitate a bubble of air around the insect neck when rising ( I think lol ). I like flashback black beauty midges and grey RS2 with the sparkle wings. Both these patterns catch fish. Get the ones with the clear bead.

I have worked within the fly fishing industry for more than 25 years and I have seen every combo/bundle on the market. Wild Water has managed to put together a very affordable option without sacrificing the overall quality of the product. I literally took it out of the box by the river and was catching fish within 15 minutes. Any experienced fisherman can see immediately that this bundle was prepared by people who actually fish.My Grandfather used to say, "You can always tell a good restaurant by their bread and if the bread is bad, you know the meal will be terrible." For me, with bundles, the flies that come with it are the bread before the meal. I actually bought it based on the flies that came with it and that grumpy old bastard's theory was proven correct once again. The Fly Rod itself has just enough stiffness for a beginner and just enough play for the seasoned pro. Is it a Scott, Sage, Winston or a St. Croix ? Of course it isn't but it is well crafted and efficient. After decades of trout fishing, I have come to the realization that a fly reel is basically just a fancy line holder..but when I did finally use the drag it was strong enough to resist and withstand a stubborn 6 pound rainbow in a strong river current and that is good enough for me.The hemostat, clippers, floating flybox and extra tapered leader all fit inside a solid carrying case and you are good to go and good to throw. If you are a gear snob, you will never justify your snobbery with a 100 dollar bundle...but if you want the job done without telling your family that its canned soup for supper again because Pappa needs a new Fly Rod and reel , then this is the bundle for you.
