Cool concept and I had high hopes that this would actually work well for controlling my 60 RPM PSC motor. The only thing this unit has going for it is the design as it is convenient to plug in the fixture on the output side of the speed controller and a cord coming off the speed controller to plug into a wall socket and that's about where it stops. I'm very familiar with potentiometers and only have a half amp load at 120 volt on it but it did absolutely nothing but caused my motor to over-amp and essentially blow my inline fuse. I purchased two of these but quite frankly both of them already have been returned and I've been refunded at this point. My best suggestion to anybody that is looking to have a form of speed control within reason is to use a potentiometer and put it in a junction box and wired up yourself controlling the hot lead going to the motor. I would suggest captive air speed controller personally as that's what I used and it is now fully variable. Also keep in mind that brushless motors do not work with any potentiometer anyways. Also another note is that these even if they're functional do not control speed as well as DC motors do which are full variable and directional. Again the design for this particular item was great if it only worked as designed. Just another Chinese product that unfortunately don't last like most but they make them look like the best of the best mimicking good brands.

Works great with my wood furnace blowers.

Works well. Lots of features, 3 prong cord and socket, bypass switch for fully on/off or adjustable. A bit large (could be much more compact) and the cord is a bit stiff so can get in the way sometimes but I just tie it out of the way. I used this on a small 12" table top fan (moderately powerful) and it does not seem very sensitive, I had to turn the adjust knob almost all the way up and then I can only adjust it to about half speed of the lowest setting of the fan (it's a 3 speed fan). This is about as slow as I can set it before it stalls (fan will buzz but not spin). I would prefer slower but this seems acceptable to me (I was trying to create as gentle and quiet a breeze as possible). This may be because its designed for a more powerful device (120VAC 15A, about 1800W). A lower powered controller would have more granular control over a lower powered device (most fans are probably between 50 and 300W).

We purchased an outdoor fan that rests on our outdoor deck, to provide an airflow that keeps mosquitos away. Mosquitos are not strong flyers, and a gentle airflow will keep them away. Alas, even at the slowest speed the fan was too fast for our comfort. So we bought this device in the hope we could use to to slow the fan down to where we wanted it. And Voila! It works perfectly. Now we can get an airflow that keeps mosquitos away, without the airflow being annoyingly fast.

this works like it should but be advised that it doesn't work on everything. anything with it's own speed control will likely not work. Will work poorly on some cheap motors without controls too. You cannot know for sure what it will and will not work on

I have a bosch 1617 router and wanted to have the variable speed controls easily accessible for a router table setup. I tried it out and unfortunately the speed control is very inadequate. If you turn it to "on" it runs at 100% rpms, but switch to the full variable speed and the rpms get reduced to maybe 75%. And it gets worse from there as router motor only works from full to 1/2 speed...beyond that the motor just kicks off. So to summarize the controller reduces power and is very limited in speed control. It may work perfect for a fan or fixed speed router, but not variable speed. It's simple to use, but I just can't use it for what i need.

Anyone who owns an AirKing 14" or larger model 9214 fan knows how much air these things typically push out. That is desirable for certain situations, but when used in a living room setting to provide a lower degree of airflow, even the LOW setting on an AirKing is comparable to the Medium to High setting on your typical WalMart special. That is where this impressively affordable motor speed control comes in! It tamed the beast right down and allowed us to finally lower the AirKing's speed to a much more manageable and appropriate level. In addition to lowering the fan's blade speed/air flow volume, the noise level from the fan dropped considerably! All of this courtesy an extremely well built controller that cost us a whopping $18.00 after sales tax and delivery via Amazon.com. Its nice to occasionally come upon a product that far exceeds your expectations, both in terms of cost as well as build quality. We are now considering the purchase of a couple more of these units to handle similar duties on the other AirKing fans we run in the summer months.

I bought this item to adjust the amount of heat that is dispersed through my heater and for that, it works well! One big caveat is that it won't work on just any heater. This will NOT work on a heater that uses Brushless Fan.The particular heater fan I'm using is a Citus B07JBP4J1N which uses a 12v DC fan much like a PC fan.You can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JBP4J1N/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_GY22DbYQXYZG0Also, the higher the variable nob is set, the hotter the plate on the back gets! With a 1000 watt ceramic heater plugged in with the nob turned all the way up, the back thick metal plate went past 150°F. I'm not sure what the max temperature is on this TRIAC but I didn't want to test it and burn itself out so I stopped the test! If you need it that high then you probably don't need this device, anyway!FYI, this works by chopping the AC cycles down to half the cycle of a full AC cycle. This WILL NOT lower the voltage or current! Do not use this on any electronics as it could damage it or greatly lessen the life of your electronics!
