how to install

IMPORTANT: Fan speed and light control will not be activated by remote if pull chains for fan and light are not set to the HIGH and ON positions respectively

  1. Before you begin, set the fan speed to high. If it’s equipped with a light source, make sure the pull chain turns the light to the on position.
  2. Turn the wall switch to the off position. For added electrical safety, flip the breaker switch and turn off the main power supply.
  3. Use a step ladder to reach the base of the fan. Remove the canopy by unfastening the external screws with a screwdriver.
  4. Follow the instruction manual that came with your unit to connect the wires and adjust the ceiling fan dip switch settings to match those found on the remote control.
  5. Install the wireless ceiling fan control receiver into the base. Wiring will vary according to the manufacturer. It may also change if the fan includes a light, or your wall has a separate switch for the light and fan motor. You may not need to use all the included wires.

After reading the reviews and not seeing that this product is "frequently returned" I purchased this remote to replace a previous one that I had installed (bought here on Amazon) which just stopped working for no apparent reason, specifically the remote itself went dead. This remote seemed completely different. It is a straight forward command for three fan speeds, and the light fixture.FYI, it uses a 9-volt battery.

This is not the fanciest remote control I have seen. The remote is a bit large and clunky, and runs off of a 9 volt battery. But it installed fine and works good, so, given the price, I would call this a good deal. I used this with a new Harbor Breeze ceiling fan, works fine.

These are perfect and so much better than the o.e. These take a 9v battery so no more buying the very expensive A23!Signal is very strong so one push and the fan/light work. I already replaced the receiver on both ceiling fans and now the controllers. Everything works great now!*don't forget to take a picture of the dip switches from the old remotes* I just made a reminder on each fan. See my picture...1 off 234 on. Easy peesy!

I had an outdoor fan missing the remote. This appeared to match but the receiver didn't work my fan (it worked the lights only). I tried the original receiver and it worked well with this remote. I'm happy, my fan works well now.

Upgraded my old Hunter fan, I had enough room under canopy for this to fit. Was easy to wire with directions. I also upgraded to an LED disc, so I couldn’t route the pull chains easily (would be possible with some engineering/careful drilling I think), works perfectly! Dimmer is easy and accurate to use, fan speeds are correct. For around $40. I have an upgraded modern fully functional remote fan!
