This filter works as described. Good value considering the price. The supplied mount was not very robust for such a large tube, so I stabilized it at the top with a hose clamp.

I live in the extremely humid tropics (climatological classification). I filled an AL80 scuba tank through this "separator" and only two teaspoons of condensate came out the drain valve, upon completion. At 80% humidity and 80 degrees, there are 3.12 tablespoons of water in that volume of air. That means this device removed ~ 21% of the moisture. Before returning the device, I was determined to find out if it was more than an empty can. I used the best possible tools to attempt to open it. They must have epoxied the threads because it would not budge. None of the other filter/separator devices I have used were thus sealed. The only plausible explanation is that it is nothing but an aluminum can dressed up in BS. I got so busy trying to open it that I missed the return deadline. It is becoming apparent that the Chinese manufacturers who use this platform see Americans as bent over with cheeks spread. So long as we keep buying their garbage and lies, they must be right.

This is a quality unit. I'm very happy with it's performance in reducing the initial water vapor content coming out of my HPA compressor. This unit is a must. And imo, should be paired (and placed ahead of), a high quality, HPA "molecular sieve" element filter. This filter simply uses gravity to catch the initial heavy oil, and water leaving the compressor upon initial start up. After starting the compressor, it quickly begins to build pressure. I wait no more than about 8 to 10 seconds, then briefly unscrew the "blow off" valve, at the bottom of the unit. I have the valve routed into a home made "catch canister" filled with cotton balls, via a short section of vacuum hose. A vent at the top of that canister blows mostly air out at a fairly high rate. Sometimes there is oily water in that. Bottom line, this thing WORKS. And it works well. If it weren't in place, all of that initial water/oil vapor would be sent right into the molecular sieve element filter. Greatly reducing the effectiveness, and longevity of that filter. And those filter element inserts aren't cheap, if you have to replace them prematurely in order to maintain totally dry air. Because this unit is purely a mechanical device, it will definitely save you $ in the long run. It pretty much pays for itself, over time. One thing to note here, about this company. The unit I received was definitely brand new, and had no signs of being a return, that I could surmise. However, the hardware contents that came with the filter was missing the blow off valve screw. Being a very specialized screw, specifically designed for this unit to be able to seal that port at very high pressures, it was not something I could easily supplant with just any ol screw, as a replacement. I contacted the company, and they responded immediately. They sent me the screw pack, which arrived in the mail very quickly. Brand new in the package. The customer service can't be beat. Was I bummed initially? Of course. But sh*t happens. It's how they dealt with it, that really impressed me. FYI...I paid for this unit. It was not "sent for review", by my request, or theirs. They've never asked me to write a positive review, or offered me anything in exchanged for doing so. I've been using it for over a year, now. And based on it's continued reliability, their outstanding service, and the fact that they rectified a factory error, with zero run around, I decided to write this after coming across it in my order history. Buy it.

So bought this device for my Yong Heng compressor to filter out the water.....came packaged staright from China with all Chinese writing and labeling....no big deal it's dummy proof to figure out.I tested the system on a 87% humidity day compressing 4500psi into a 68ci tank in continuous go.....leaked like crazy from the fitting, YOU MUST USE TEFLON TAPE ON THEM, filled tank with out any issues after that, and drain valves works perfectly but air exits violently so be careful...HOWEVER....my first test run I drained the air extremely slowly to not let the water get expelled. When doing so I cracked open the system, and to my surprise there was a TON of water in the catch and verfied it works extremely well.Pro:Very sturdy built.Works amazing wellSimple design when you pop it openExtra orings and mounting bolts.Again works VERY VERY GOOD.Cons.Deff not worth $160 when you open it up, it's so basic it more of a $50-$75 system but if you want something that truelly works well don't up the cash because whoa it works amazingly.Mounting bracket limits ways to mount the system but that's not to big of a deal.Release valve uses a Derlin seal and once that seal wears out(would take a while but still), your stuck finding a way to use a oring to seal the valve because let's face it it's from China good luck getting parts. So long story short, it's not technically worth $160 but it works and works very well, so if you not hurting in money or want something that doesn't require desiccant beads then this is the ticket for you.Yes I would buy again with out any second thought
