This is the nicest filter I've ever owned for an air compressor. It's heavy and easy to install. Appreciate the brass fittings. My only concern is the drain plug is made of plastic with a little winged control on it. It seems like it's the cheapest part of the filter and I've got my fingers crossed that it won't break on me. I've not had any problems with this so far, and hope to have it for a long time.

I recently reviewed its big brother kit from the same brand that includes air inlet filter+ oil lubrication + output pressure regulator as one body assembly, and I occasionally use it to improve the quality of air coming from my old semi-portable RIDGID air compressor, when I need to use it with my pneumatic tools that require dry and slightly oily air supply just to keep their internals in good shape. However, I use my Air compressor a lot to inflate tires, blow air for cleaning parts, or with my paint gun, and for those applications, I need only a good source of clean, low-moisture, dry, air supply only, (oil lubrication can be detrimental for paintwork or inflation uses). So, this ½” NPT air filter seemed a perfect choice to complement my Air compressor setup. So far, this filter has same quality as the one I’m using from same brand. Connections, threads and fittings are nice and neat and everything works as it should. It is winter now, so currently the air moisture is low so not too much moisture is being retained by the filter, but I guess that I’ll see the big improvement when using the air compressor in summer when humidity is high in this southern state, then this filter will help a lot separating water from the air and improving the quality of compressed air delivered.Overall, I think that is well priced and with good value for its quality. The only caveat, is that it does not include a bracket, so I’m attaching the filter straight to compressor outlet fitting. Still, somewhat easy to install and works just fine as a good water separation and filtration. Happy with its device. Recommended.Reviewed by Handyman

>This is a solid metal compressed air filter. It has some weight to it so this should last a lifetime. Mine has a beautiful blue paint finish.>The kit comes with one female coupler, one male coupler, and two male-to-male fittings for marrying this to other units in line. All connection components are a nice brass. I used a little teflon tape to screw in the couplers. Air direction triangles are on the 'top'.>Opening it up at the collar was easy and I could see the high-quality brass filter. There are angled fins I assume to direct air which implies thoughtful/optimal design.>The cage cutouts/windows are easy to see through.>The drain plug is plastic with a sort of winged control for opening and closing. I was very careful around that plastic area given how heavy the whole unit is.>I tested it up to 140psi. The unit did not leak. Oil and some moisture were filtered. The air came out clean.>I have a cheap inline plastic/polyurethane filter right before my tools but this filter at the compressor properly replaces it which will remove airline clutter and weight.
