Works great! I have been using it for several years for Emerald Ash borer prevention. Drill and 3/8 in bit, 6 inch phillips screwdriver, and a small hammer is all you need. Forget the calculation on the package. Mark your depth on the drill bit with duct tape. Drill the hole, install the capsule and tap it in with the screwdriver and hammer. Use the 6 inch screwdriver to mark the distance to the next hole and drill again. Since the holes are 6 inches apart, there is really no need to measure and calculate the circumference at all. Drill them 6 inches apart is all you really need to know.

I have two Ash trees in my front yard and want to keep them healthy since they are very large. I have treated the trees with this product before and some others and that seems to have helped. However, one of the trees have large branches that do not have leaves on them now and am afraid that they have died. I did a ground treatment around the tree earlier this spring and wanted to treat that tree with these implants for added protextion. The rest of the tree looks healthy so I hope the city won't come along and want the tree to be cut down. They are okay to install but it is kind of involved to measure the tree and figure out where to put them and how many. It seems that the instructions could use a larger print and make easier to know where to drill.

I installed these in about 20 large pines to prevent and hopefully kill pine beetles. I have lost many already and figured i have nothing to lose if i install these in the ones that are still green and alive. Some of my pines are difficult to get to because of where they are growing but i managed to do it. These implants are easy to install. just drill a 3/8 hole at the correct depth and tap in. Since the bark on some of my trees was exceptionally thick, It was a little difficulty to gauge the correct depth but i did the best i could. I installed 375 implants in all. I might also treat the surrounding area with a chemical but i hadn't decided yet. This is almost 3 acres of old growth pines and i have love quite a few and this is a last ditch effort to save these beauties. I cant really do a 5 star review yet unitl i see results. I still have other pines that are only about 8 in or less in diameter that havent been treated yet and the 3/8 implants are too large so im just hoping they wont get infected.

How long should this take to work? A month after I installed it -- which was time-consuming but not that difficult -- I didn't see any significant regrowth on the tree. This was despite regular watering and some light fertilizer. Then one of the tree's trunks uprooted, damaging another one, and we decided to remove it and replant. Maybe I was impatient, or maybe my tree was too sick, but I thought I would see some progress a month after installing these. I wonder if I hastened the tree's death with all the drilling. I wish I had looked harder to find an insect spray, as my arborist recommended.

I used this product to treat a large centerpiece elm tree in my front yard. It was easy to use while following the directions, and the price is so much less as compared to having a tree service out to inject the tree. I will update this review if anything changes, but so far my big elm is showing no signs of EAB infestation, while there are many dead and dying ash trees in my neighborhood. I used this product in conjunction with a liquid drench product around the trunk.
