Summary:These snap buttons are pleasantly sufficient for low-to-medium duty applications and projects.Context:Used these snap buttons on a leather valet tray project (a.k.a. “dice roll mat”).Advice:Take your time setting the hardware and they will work well. Make sure you have solid footing and support underneath - too soft will not allow for the hardware to bend/implode the way you need it to for a secure fit/install. Before you strike the driving pins with your mallet confirm that you are absolutely straight and not crooked in both left-right and forward-backward direction.Other details:- Finish and color are aesthetic and should look great on a variety of leather types/dyes- There are thankfully no words (manufacturer or otherwise) on these snaps (instead there are stars around the button, which isn’t the best but not terrible to look at)- I dyed my leather after adding the snaps, and I immediately wiped off the dye after applying (no dye streaks remained on the snaps hardware)Recommendation:I do recommend this product.

I have nothing but good things to say about the overall fit and quality of the product. The installation tools work well and the snaps crimp onto the material very solidly. However, the part that has me concerned is that the holding force for the snap isn't very high. I purchased these to repair a leather jacket that has a damaged snap on the right sleeve and I think these will be coming apart every time I brush up against a steering wheel, doorway, etc. I'm looking for something that takes more of a tug to get it to let go.

I purchased these expressly to replace buttons that had fallen off from a CQR Men's Flannel Lined Jacket. Except for the stamped branding, these are an exact replacement. Except for the hammer, all tools required to install are included. It took me a couple tries for practice and then installation on the jackets. After two months the buttons are holding up quite well and I haven't had to replace.These buttons are slightly smaller than the ones that fell off a Maxpedition sling pack, but they do work fine.I still have lots of them left and will adjust this review if anything goes wrong, but for now these are perfect for my needs.

I used these to repair the snap on a pair of jeans. There are a couple of things to be aware of:1) There is just one size of snap in the package. This is good because you have spares if you make a mistake.2) On my pair of jeans, the pin pulled through the cloth enlarging the hole that held the pin assembly So, the new pin piece didn't have enough purchase to prevent it from being pulled through again.. I took some thick 8/4 thread and used an embroidery stitch to reduce the hole size and give the pin part of the snap something to bite to. (Its very easy, just look up visible mending and embroidery stitch on YouTube. You are simply repairing a hole in the garment). I did have to drill out the socket part of the old snap but this was very easy to do. Again, YouTube is your friend here.3) The socket part of the snap goes in quite easily. However, make sure you start with gentle taps when putting in the pin part of the snap. It is very easy for the part to shift on the aluminum mandrel and for the part to distort. Fortunately, all of the sizes are the same so there are plenty of spares. If you are like me and this is your first time putting a snap in, plan on distorting one or more while you get the touch right.

Used to overcome a broken zipper on a down vest. These worked but are not ‘heavy duty’. It did save me from having to replace an entire zipper. During more strenuous activity they tend to unsnap. The guides,fixtures & punches again are adequate but not as easy to use as they could be with just a little more modeling design prior to fabrication.

I have attempted quite a few DIY jacket snap jobs in the past, however this kit I bought with the 4 colors in one box is the bomb!! I was able to remove all the velcro on a pretty expensive $200 Eddie Bauer down coat and install snaps instead, matching the color of a couple existing Eddie Bauer snaps on the jacket. Velcro is just down right offensive and cheap sounding when ripping it off for any expensive coat. I used another color of the snap on an expensive British wax coat to create some interesting extra features. The snaps are fairly strong and secure, no more and no less than the factory installed brand name coat snaps I tested also from Eddie Bauer, Pendleton, Columbia. As long as you install the snaps appropriately without damage, they should hold their strength very well. Some reviewer said they tried replacing their main jean front button with this snap and complained it wasn't strong enough to keep the jean closed. Seriously.... some folks have no common sense.
