Seems to be priced right, the display is fine and easy to read, of course I can't vouch for its effectiveness as it's up and 'on' but not been triggered - thankfully. It comes with a battery which is convenient anyway. It either will work if there's carbon monoxide in the home, or, if it doesn't, I guess we'll never know the difference, yikes..! But I have no reason to think it won't work. Packaged well, undamaged etc.

Needed one of these in our basement, so installed this unit. It appears to be working fine when tested. It uses 3 AA batteries, which ought to power it for at least a year, one would think. The batteries are not included, which some might prefer so they can put in something they know will last. The instructions were good, a rarity these days. Includes the mounting screws and went up easily. No complaints so far, and at least some peace of mind since our gas-burning fireplace is also in the basement.

Everything works as the instructions (clearly written) state, alarm is loud enough, operating and test lights work. It should be noted the display isn't lit unless in test mode or alarming due to high CO in order to save battery. I even took a shot at setting off the alarm by holding it about 6 inches from my car exhaust for several minutes. I didn't enjoy holding it there, but the alarm didn't trigger, and when I tried to test in order to light the display on the unit, it still read "0.00". While digging around the web looking for test methods, that low reading sounds normal, and even failure to trigger based on car exhaust may be nothing to worry about as the garage door was open so CO would quickly disperse. It turns out wikihow website mentions a CO test spray that will allow you to fill a bag with the gas triggering the sensor. I'd never heard of that, interesting, but at about $15, more than the detector you're testing, I'm not sure I'll go to that length.
