These are great splitting wedges. They are easy to start hitting into the wood. The variation on the sides of the wedge seem to help split the wood. They are solid and heavy. One caution I would give is do not have them hit into a knot in the wood. They will get stuck. Because of their design they easily go into the wood. Banging them into a knot will not split the wood. I ended up having to use an axe to chop away at the log so that I could extract both wedges (of course I was stupid enough to try and get the first wedge out by nailing in the second one.Overall they are a great value for the money and are very effective. I would definitely recommend them!

Works amazing. Tow for the price of one. Best deal. Split wood nicely but u have to use ur brain to place them correctly. One is enough for 10 to 15 inches log. Tow is good for bigger size log. Remember the eys of the wood are a no go since there very hard so avoid those erea

The last wedge I bought that looked like these broke. It was made of an alloy. These are steel according to the description, and so far they're doing their job.

Currently splitting medium red oak. Have not yet used it for other woods. These wedges work well. Worth the cost.

They allow the 2nd wedge on large material to assist in completing the split. Had a bunch of large wet poplar dropped off and these were required to split so I can season the wood. The wedges come out easily by tapping in them sideways as they have a thick wedge design that is slightly concave leading to a sharper point. The point allows for a small tap to set it so they stick right away. I have a couple of Fiskars wedges at my cabin that I couldn't get to this winter as I was splitting this wood at home so purchased these. These work far better than the Fiskars, thicker, longer and far easier to start. Fiskars is a wide blade.type leading edge rather than a point so I keep my framing hammer handy to start the Fiskars cause it doesn't set well at all and needs several hits with my 6lb splitting maul to start, and it not.being that accurate sends the wedge peaning off to the side which is a nuisance constantly hunting around the wood chips looking for the darn thing...
